In Hugh Padgham’s Hitmaker SDX – The Making Of – Mr. Padgham says that all sounds were recorded to digital and tape despite which era they we originally conceived (Collins/Copeland in the tape era and Manu/Vinnie in the digital era).
Are there any plans to release the digital versions of Collins/Copeland and indeed the tape versions of Manu/Vinnie?
Personally, I would quite happily pay a bit extra for a SDX-X version with the complete set of tape AND digital recordings.
In any event, Hitmaker is a wonderful tool!!
Cheers,
Preben
Thanks for the positive feedback. Unfortunately there are no current plans to release the extra sounds. For clarity all the drums in the released version of the Hitmaker SDX are recorded to tape.

Thanks for getting back to me Damian. And thanks for clearing this up. It does seem like HP implies that the drums were recorded (and thusly, one would expect, released) ‘period correct’, i.e. earlier to tape and later to digital, so it is great to know.
