How do I make the playback of EZD3 in my Ableton project be what’s in the grid editor instead of what’s in the piano roll?
There’s a Song Track (timeline) in EZD at the bottom of the interface. Put your midi there instead of in an Ableton track.

Thanked by: Austin_48I found that deactivating the MIDI in the Ableton track (by clicking 0 on it) and then clicking ‘Follow Host’ within the EZD3 grid editor worked for me.
Edit: It was actually mostly about clicking ‘Follow Host’. If I don’t deactivate the MIDI in the Ableton track, it plays both the drums within the grid editor and the drums of the Ableton track I believe.
Makes perfect sense. Follow Host should be enabled by default when EZ launches. The typical workflow is people make their song in the EZD Song Track. If they want to bring their midi into their DAW, they would select all, right-click, and select Mute in the Song Track of EZD.
You had the same outcome after all, just different steps.

Thanked by: Austin_48Thanks Shootie, great to know. I have a q. that dovetails from your response if that’s alright:
Now with EZD3, you might realize there’s less reasons to put the midi in your DAW’s track.
There is some sort of system permissions issue that’s not allowing you to drag back to EZ, this is typical.
You may have to manually export each midi track from ableton so you can reimport. I don’t know this DAW well, you may want to start a new post with just this question.
