I recently upgraded to EZD3 and I have several 3rd party MIDI libraries that I plan to use (Groove Monkee, Oddgrooves, etc.) in addition to my collection of Toontrack MIDI. Reading the instructions from the 3rd party and online forum posts, it seems like the preferred method of bringing these into EZD3 is via the “User MIDI” folder. I copied my 3rd party MIDI files there and booted up EZD3. After EZD3 scanned the User MIDI folder for changes, everything seemed to work perfectly.
The next day, however, I noticed that when I opened EZD3, these 3rd party libraries now appeared a second time up in the “EZX Libraries” section with a warning flag asking me to add them to the library. When I clicked, the warning went away and they were all added to the Grooves browser AGAIN!
In the attached screenshot, the green boxes highlight the first time when I added the 3rd party content to the User MIDI folder. The red boxes highlight when that content appeared again unexpectedly up in the “EZX Libraries” section. It seems to be a separate entry in the database because when I set the “star” flag on one MIDI file in the User MIDI folder, the star is not set on the other instance of that same MIDI file up in the “EZX Libraries” section. From what I can tell, the actual files are not duplicated, but I’m not entirely sure.
- Is this a known issue with EZD3?
- How can I get rid of the duplications without breaking anything or corrupting the Grooves database?
- Is using the User MIDI folder for 3rd party MIDI content the preferred approach, or should I have done something else?
