G’day,
I’ve run into a problem several times where Superior Drummer 3.2.6 doesn’t save settings on sessions in Logic Pro 10.6.3, running on Catalina 10.15.7.
Once I close the project and return to it later, SD3 relaunches at a blank slate with no MIDI or drum set settings recalled.
I’ve seen a few old posts from other users reporting similar problems but no clear resolution.
Could I be missing anything obvious here? I’ve assumed the SD3 settings should all automatically save in the Logic project. In some cases it does work OK.
In one case I’d thought to separately save the SD3 settings and was able to recover them. In the others I was unable to recover my work.
I have noticed that if I temporarily open a second Logic session containing an instance of SD3 without closing my current session (say to copy a midi track or an audio clip from it), once I return to the current session, SD3 will have lost its settings.
Looking forward to any assistance.
Cheers,
First thing I’d suggest is to update SD3 to the latest version. May bugs were introduced since 3.2.4 and most have been fixed.
If you are still having issues within Logic after that, you may have some weird permissions problems in which I would suggest you first try repairing permissions using Disk Utility.

Thanks Jordan, I’ll give it a go.
I’ve checked the release notes and it doesn’t looks like this particular issue has been addressed but as you suggest looks like a lot of bug fixes have been coming through.
For all we know, it could’ve been a side effect of one of the other bugs that was never tested. I am using the latest version of SD3 and have no issues saving any project settings inside of Logic. Everything is right where I left it when Logic’s project loads.
It is either that, or the possibility that the permissions inside the directories in which you are saving your projects may be a bit wonky.

I am currently running version 3.3.3 & I am having similar problems. I run SD3 in Pro Tools Ultimate & midi notes randomly do not save.
Most recently, my kick drum hits are not saving when I quantize them. I have been dragging them off the grid to make the drums less robotic sounding & I have had to do this about 3 or 4 times now because each time I go back to SD3 the changes are not saved.
One instance of this happened when I made SD3 “inactive”, I did not close the PT session & as soon as I made SD3 “active” again, my kick drums hits were back to being perfectly on the grid, instead of slightly off.
I’ve read through the release notes of 3.3.4 & this problem is not being addressed.
Hi Ron,
do you have your MIDI on the SD3 internal Song Track or on the SD3 Instrument Track in Pro Tools?

John

Having the same problem here. SD3 won’t save and sometimes it does save but won’t hold MIDI settings.
Also doesn’t consistently hold changes to custom kits.
Extremely frustrated about this.
SD3 3.3.4 installed on Macbook Pro
No other pluggins / No other programs running
USB3 connected to MOTU UltraLite-mk5 18×22 USB Audio Interface
MIDI input from Roland TD30 kit via USB.
Easy Drummer will work, but SD3 just won’t save and behave consistently.
This is a setup for live performances and cannot have a Buggy software that flakes out on performance setup.
If anyone has some wisdom to share, please do.
We are not dinking around in a basement or home studio where software issues like this would be less stressful.
For the money this software cost, it has to stable.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
