I’m working on an old, low quality recording where the drums are a single stereo track, so I’m transcribing the whole thing in EZD3. I’m listening to the original and entering notes bar by bar (thankfully, it’s not a complicated part).
I’m using the grid editor in EZD3 and creating notes with the mouse, but there’s a massive inconsistency between the velocities being created.
For example, when I click to add a kick drum beat, one is created at 98, the next at 93, the next at 119. With snare hits, it varies even more wildly, with velocities ranging from 30 to 127, which means I’m constanty having to adjust them after input.
How is this controllable so hits get entered within a predicatble velocity range? It’s such a waste of time having to keep adjusting a snare hit because it’s too damn quiet. I can obviously copy and paste sections that are the same (or very similar) but it would save a hell of a lot of time if I didn’t have to keep adjusting wildly random velocities.
Looking forward to an answer for this. I’m having a bunch of similar experiences, but have been waiting to test more before I ask about them.
In the meantime, you can turn off humanization. Program your drums, save and preserve your work, then experiment doing more global humanization moves afterward.

Does it do it when entered in with a hardware controller of sorts? Or is this mouse added? Is the humanize settings on and set to something that makes it vary it ?
Hi Paul it sounds like you are doing exactly what I am, load a single song with bad recording quality and beefing it up with much better sounds.
Just a thought is there a setting that’s enabled that gives you this randomised entering to give you an automated human feel except it’s tweaked to high,
just a thought.
im also interested to hear what’s your workflow to achieve your goal?
Cause my sucks no matter which way I go it’s clumsy.
cheers Damir
Hi Shootie, ive started getting stuck in to EZD3 and cant get anywhere i dont know where to start theres so many wrong things of not working things or just plain dumb things.
Can you tell me where i can give this feedback to loony toons, ive just tried song mode and have been trying for days to place drums on a relatively simple song i almost finished and then it all went pare shape on me as i was doing the ending i dont kow how or why but i managed to loose a number of loops out of song mode, i did nothing unusual that i am aware off so i hit undo, i couldnt believe it, it does nothing UNDO DOES NOT WORK IN SONG MODE, CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS! So now half my creation has dissapeared and ive just wasted 2 days, this is just the begining of my frustration , i really dont know where to start, shifting copying in song mode sucks , creating a song section in Band Master and dragging it to song mode gives you extra bars of i dont know what, nothing seems to work reliably, god damn looping is fighting eachother in DAW , SONG MODE , GRID EDITOR , BANDMASTER, What the hell were they thinking when they created this mish mash of stupidity.
The daw loop keeps playing yet the plugins loop playing its own thing, loops get out of sync easily, zoom in out requires banoculas to find it and if you are not careful you will create a ship load of song tracks because the damn plus sign is easily mistakingly hit
These things ive found in the first few minutes of trying to do a very basic task and thats to replace a bad audio recording starting with drums, i have purchased eazy bass , eazy mix, eazy keys Eazy drummer 2 and 3, superior drummer 3 but have not tried them yet because EZD3 had Bandmaster and thats what sold it to me plus your videos got me to buy all the products , but so far EZD3 is very dissapointing its like picking up a good loking chick then seeing her in the morning without makeup.
As you can tell i am pissed.
Love your work!
Oh just now as i entered my version 3.0.2 which i installed today, but there appears to be a version 3.0.3 according to the list, yet using Product Manager does not appear to have it available, seems like even thats out of sync. 😂

Shane makes a good point, which is not my issue but could be yours… If set to Normal in the Velocity Style menu beats 2 and 4 gets a velocity accent, halftime beats 3 get it, double time beats 1-4 get it.

One thing, Damir… if you’ve found you’ve gone too far with a project file, do take a look in the File>Auto-Saved projects. You may be able to recover your work there.

Thanks so much Shootie, I will keep that in mind, but I persevered and completed my drum track to an audio file considering I spent more time stuffing around than seriously editing it came out ok, I have to apologise yes there is an undo for song mode and grid editor but it’s in the EDIT menu, it works there but the two large UNDO REDO buttons don’t seem to work either they operate on another part of the software or they just don’t function.
I would definitely only have one UNDO REDO SMACK IN YOUR FACE AND WORKING ON EVERYTHING. But that’s me.
I think EZD3 needs our help to perfect it so we don’t age prematurely.
