This PC\Documents\Toontrack\Superior Drummer 3 (this is where my user presets currently reside but the “user preset” menu is grayed out)
This PC\Documents\Toontrack\Superior 3
Both of these exist in my system. I’m trying to solve why when I “rescan” my user presets the “user presets” menu is still grayed out. What I see inside Superior 3 are a number of Preset folders. None say User Presets or seem to be that. I have placed a user preset into this folder, thinking it might be a root of user presets – did the scan, still grayed out. There is a subfolder called PresetsEZX and, as an e.g., inside that is a folder called SL-FIELDSOFROCKSTONE. I placed the fields of rock stone preset in there. Did a rescan. Still nothing.

I don’t use Windows but in the preset menu list there should be an option “Manage in Explorer”.
When you select that it will take you to the folder that it expects to find your “user presets”.
Try placing them in that folder, then rescan and see if that helps.

I think you’re helping me solve it.
I had done it already, but this time when I clicked on Manage I noticed that the presets I copied there no longer had a file extension. I specifically checked folder settings, and “hide extensions” was NOT checked. SO
I added the extension (which used to be there) and 2 of the 3 files now show up. I did a rescan, and again, I just have 2 of the files.
I suppose its possible that this has to do with Bitdefender. I believe that User Documents is already made Off Limits (made an exception so Bitdefender is not supposed to be prowling around there).
ANYWAY I STILL NEED SOMEONE’S HELP CUZ I’VE MADE SURE THAT BITDEFENDER IS NOT TO BLAME. The Fields of Rock Stone presets are not showing. (I unloaded SD3 and reloaded it also. )
So, I am first wandering why the path looks strange. The path it has chosen to make me manage my presets is this:
Username\Documents\Toontrack\Superior3\PresetsEZX\SL-FIELDSOFROCKSTONE (for example).
Can someone tell me if that is correct? And why are my presets that I’m creating still not showing up? I tried the same thing – saving and scanning for changes, in the Standalone SD3. No dice. No user presets in that folder (FieldsofRock Stone) and when I hit manage the files are there, and when I hit “rescan” nothing appears to happen.
I am having this EXACT same issue in late November 2022…… no answers ??

Hi Everyone,
Has anyone ever found the workaround for this? I have waaaaay too many projects that rely on having these user presets working…
Thx, Jeff
hi, my name is corey and i run the youtube channel metal track mind. i love superiour drummer 3 and this thread was the only one i could really find on this same issue i had so i hope this helps. i believe i understand it so im going to share this with you and anyone else that finds this. and toontrack please make a tutorial on this for the troubled users.
so i realized i could open a preset by double clicking it outside of a DAW. and the folder thing and rescan thing does nothing with copy and paste in a folder method. so outside of a daw double click the preset you want to add it will open a stand alone SD3. and it shows up right, the right click the preset select tab beside the expansion pack tab, simply hit save as. you have to rename it and save it as a preset this way. then presto, you go in even in a daw and its there and user presets is not grey out anymore. but keep in mind which expansion the preset originates from because the users presets tab will on by white in that particular expansion sub category.
your welcome, i just read closely th description on some guys free preset and it said something i glossed over multiple times. make sure to open first then save as a new preset.
anyways hope this helps its an easy thing to run into the first time you want to get into custom downloadable presets and i was fustrated.
cheack out my channel sometime, its all about metal and see ya folks.. https://www.youtube.com/@metaltrackmind6851
Hi,
I suspect that most people having trouble reaching expected results are mixing up different types of Presets and Projects.
Projects are saved and loaded via the File menu; ‘File > Save As..’, ‘File > Open…’. Projects save the entire state of the SD3 plugin/app. An SD3 Project (*.sd3p) file can be stored anywhere and opened anywhere from, unlike Presets.
Presets can be saved in many places for different type of properties; Mixer Channel strips, individual mixer inserts, some Property Boxes, Views, etc.
but also Drums and Mixer Presets, which are presets that store pretty much everything on the Drums and Mixer pages. Unlike a Project, it doesn’t store an applied MIDI Preset or MIDI on the Song Track(s), for example.
A Drums and Mixer Preset must reside in the User Preset folder for its parent library loaded when it was created.
I.e. if I load the ‘Hansa – Marble Room’, clear the Kit and switch out the kit pieces to Instruments from other libraries, e.g. the SD3 Core library, even the other Hansa ‘Live Room’ library and the ‘Meistersaal’ library, the preset will not be visible under User Presets unless I first load the ‘Marble Room’ library.
This means that if you receive a Drums and Mixer Preset from someone else, you must place it in the User Preset folder for the library that was loaded when it was created.
Placing an SD3 Project file (*.sd3p) in a Drums and Mixer User Preset folder will not work.
Opening it via the File Menu and then Saving it as a Drums and Mixer User Preset works and after it is saved as such will let you load Parts from that Preset, such as (selected) Instruments, (selected) Mixer Channels and Macros.

John
