Hi! An urgent question:
Original issue:
We have a Universal Audio Apollo 8xp interface and record everything through its software Console to get zero latency. All the mic/line recordings are recorded through this Apollo console using Cubase Pro 11 and all the In and Out is working great. However the issue is to get EZdrummer 2, that we set up in Cubase to be heard out through the headphones in the console to be able to sing and play to the drum track . When we play the EZdrummer 2 track it shows up in the master output channel in cubase. However, it doesn’t come out as sound. I’m thinking we need to send the virtual instrument channel with EZdrummer on it to a Virtual input channel on the Apollo console..? Or should we send it to a Virtual output channel on the Apollo console..? Either way I’m not managing to do so.. Should we do this on the Cubase mixconsole where it says “routing”, or as a “cue send”. In our out?
The console channels are not showing up as an option when clicking on either of these.
Now we have a new issue as well:
Also, after we had someone there trying to help with another issue, I think he might have changed something, because now we can’t drag any sound files from the EZdrummer to our track and when I look in the right bottom corner, it has an error message, which I don’t recall having seen before: ”Audio engine inactive, check you audio device”. Does this mean that it’s not connecting to the sound library anymore? Please help!
Hi,
did you figure this out or are you still in need of help?
If so, please elaborate on whether you hear everything coming out from Cubase in your MON L/R path in the Console or if you are missing the signal from Cubase in your Cue1/Cue2 headphone path.

John

We’re recording the analog instruments through the console into Cubase and hearing everything coming out in the L/R path in the Console.
EZdrummer is set up into a virtual channel track directly in Cubase. You can see that the EZdrummer sound is playing by seeing it in the Master channel output (signal moving up and down) when playing the EZdrummer track, but can’t hear it in the headphones that is connected to the console.
The analog tracks, that were recorded through the console can be heard through the headphones however.
Why would you be using a virtual channel? Are you not instantiating EZD3 as a plug-in within Cubase?

Sorry, I meant a MIDI track. We use the EZD2 plug-in. Not 3.
Hi,
I am a it puzzled… if you hear the output of what is playing in Cubase through the speakers and headphones, but not EZdrummer 2, they can’t be set to the same output in Cubase and therefore not in the Console. And I am assuming you are using CUE 1 and/or CUE 2 as headphones output?
If I record a vocal through the 8xp, I can hear the direct signal through the MON path in my speakers but if I have headphones connected to CUE1, I need to send the vocal signal to CUE1 to hear the vocal in my headphones.

John
