In addition to my previous post noting the lack of an undo button as in EZ2 – I also notice that – whereas EZ2 had drop down menus for each instrument
which easily displayed the relevant articulation, key or midi note – this is missing from EZ3, You can view the articulations in the grid editor – but not the midi note or keyboard key. For those of us who make our drum tracks with an Octopad or similar device – mapping the midi notes is a nightmare.
This is another great feature from EZ2 which has been messed around with on EZ3.
Why on earth have Toontrack taken out these easy to use functions.
Also, for some unknown reason, I EZ3 keeps crashing right in the middle of my work. Very frustrating ! – No such problems with EZ2.
Thus – I find myself tending to revert to EZ2 when I am writing my tracks – because at the moment it is easier and more user friendly than the newest version.
Seems to me that a better name for this new, and supposedly better software would be “Not Quite So Easy Drummer 3”.

Go to Settings/E-Drums… then select “Mapping” in the panel to the left.

Have you installed the updates for EZdrummer 3 (they include some crash fixes)? What OS and DAW are you using? Do you know how to reproduce the crash (what steps do you take before it happens)?

Hi Andreas
Thanks for your reply. My version is 3.0.2 and I am using windows 10. I write my basic tracks in the standalone version, and use them in Reaper to see where they need modifying.
The crashes occur in the standalone version, but I cannot pinpoint a particular action which causes them.
Also, I find that when trying to edit in Reaper, all sorts of weird things happen, like notes disappearing and sections moving about without really understanding why, so I revert to the standalone version to do editing.
In EZD2 – working as above presented no such problems.
I realise that new software will always have glitches – so please don’t think I simply have a down onEZD3 – the full size screen for instance is a very welcome addition
Although I can now find mapping in the drop down menu – it seems to me that some of the great features
in EZ2 have been moved around.
What could be easier than clicking a drum, and getting a drop down menu which shows the details
of midi note or key, whilst also having the ability to engage the transport buttons.
This way, you can change the articulation to see what it sounds like as you play a looped section, and record
easily without having to change windows. Simply click the undo button if it doesn’t work out.
With EZdrummer 3 – you get a new window which does not show the transport bar,
so in my view – this is a negative step, although the midi learn feature is a good addition.
I am guessing that the software developers assumed users would be sitting at a computer with both hands free whilst writing tracks.
Just to clarify – with EZD2 – although I sometimes use a Roland Octapad – my tracks are mostly written and played back with a guitar around my neck, and a keyboard at the side of me for adding drum hits etc, whilst editing with simple mouse clicks – only needing to use one hand.
As I said previously, some of the very easy to use features of EZD 2 have been removed, and for me – the whole key to easy workflow
is to make changeable parameters simple to access and modify.
Thanks
Pete

In Reaper, please open Options > Preferences > General > Advanced UI/system tweaks…
Then under HiDPI mode (Windows 7+) select Unaware. Does this fix the issue and make it easier to use the grid editor and editing features in the song track?
Regarding the crashes, do you get a message that a crash dump file has been created? If so, would you be able to send us that crash dump?
One way to get to a location that may contain EZD3 crash dumps on Windows is to open File Explorer and then enter the following in the address bar at the top:
%Appdata%\EZdrummer 3
