Hi, I installed EZD3 on my new PC build. Stopped when I noticed it said UPDATE/FULL PRODUCT INSTALLER
I usually research, with the PM Installer I thought it would be more apparent lol. So when I read the above I thought I would inquire after a little research.
Apparently I need to install the ORIGINAL full purchase product?
(I remember ToonTrack having written over EZD1, so only EZD2 was needed, or something like that, lol.)
I Bought EZD, then Upgrade to EZD2 like a month or so later. But this is new system not having installed any ToonTrack EZ Drummer yet.
Downloaded PM – Installed to default chosen. (Thought odd it chose the Program Files (x86) for default install.)
Format Selection/De-selection – (Installed Application offered no selection for Format/Path – Location)
EZX Current and Legacy availability/requirements (Read in the forum some EZX concerns?)
Thank you for any assistance 😉
I’m a new noob here so take my opinion with a large dose of NaCl. 🤪. I just recently upgraded from EZD2 to EZD3 and it was straightforward. I just upgraded and it was fine. Now I imagine I had the most recent EZD2. And shortly after upgrading to 3, I had to update it to 3.01.

Thanked by: The RockerHi Bxcowboy, Thanks for the reply, some programs require the full purchased version, to install an updated version. Old practice, but sometimes still use it.
Also, after further reading, some mention the need to install EZX’x that were version specific with both EZD1 and EZD2. Seems so far, we need to install those versions to authenticate those particular EZX’s. INstalling EZD2 before EZD3, and EZD1 before EZD2 if EZD1 was the full product purchased (not an upgrade).
I imagine the purchased EZX’s will instantiate just fine once install.
I like a clean one time install lol. Otherwise I dive into the registry to clean it up. Also I like to avoid that when possible, even though I can fix anything computer concerned, lol.
Be great if they have it so I only need to install EZD3 on this computer. It’s just built and updated.
So I need to know if I can simply install EZD3 although some are having major issues. Likely user misunderstanding.

Thanked by: BxcowboyThanks Warren, I was re-reading the forums since you brought up PM handled the Upgrade from EZD2 to EZD3 just fine.
That led me to needing to understand how we had to do the EZD1 to EZD2 upgrade or fresh install. This is what I understand:
My concerns:
So if my research is correct, to install Toontrack EZD3 Upgrade, without Installing EZD2, on a new computer:
Seems so straight forward I’m going to proceed. Might be why there is nothing similar to my concerns in the Forum lol.
Very interesting. Let us know how it turns out

That led me to needing to understand how we had to do the EZD1 to EZD2 upgrade or fresh install. This is what I understand:
- EZD2 actually writes over EZD1. Meaning EZD1 is no longer installed
- EZD3 does not overwrite EZD2. Meaning EZD2 is still installed.
My concerns:
- EZD2 does not need to be installed and would like to avoid.
- Path Location Selection choice (Not sure but I think this is during the first Core install)
- I want to retain use of all Kits since EZD1 (if possible, but not a deal breaker, lol)
- Avoid AAX format install. No Protools here.
So if my research is correct, to install Toontrack EZD3 Upgrade, without Installing EZD2, on a new computer:
- Install EZD3 Application,
- Install Core 3
- Install Core 2 EZX (just noticed it listed as an EZX)
- Then the other EZX’s.
Seems so straight forward I’m going to proceed. Might be why there is nothing similar to my concerns in the Forum lol.

Do a “custom” install, which allows you to deselect (unselect?) whatever…. omit installing the AAX plug-in.
And yes, the initial core installation will let you change the target location for the sample libraries.
