I agree. Users will be more inclined to use and buy products they can easily find a solution when a problem arises. If I have too much difficulty solving problems I won’t upgrade, nor buy after trial period, nor recommend to other users in forums across the internet.
I also agree that it’s totally stupid. Already being an SD3 owner, I wanted to read what people were saying about EZBass before I purchased it. But no way.
I don’t know why they want to stop non-owners from reading what people are saying about their products.

Wow – talk about ridiculous. When I was casting about for a replacement for BFD 3 I looked into Toontrack and it’s drum wares. Having to own either of those programs before I could ask a question about it seemed bizarre. And now to find out that even though I own SD3 I can’t ask about EZD3 in it’s own forum?
I understand about having to setup an account to be able to read or post to a product’s forum in some cases because of Spam issues but this?

Same here. I often cruise forums to see what’s up with software I’m interested in. Even just reading things sometimes answers my questions.

If you allowed people to read the forums about the product they are just about to buy, then a lot of them would not continue with the purchase because these products are full of bugs, badly implemented features, missing features and the like. And we couldn’t allow something that decreased sales, could we! I get notified by email of new Superior Drummer 3 forum posts. About three or four times a week there are one or more posts where someone is complaining that an update has meant their product is now broken, or some feature they expected should be in the product, because it was so basic, is not there, or a multitude of other complaints. Yep, we can’t have the buying public reading about all those issues, it’s bad for sales!

There is a pre sales part you can access and ask questions on all the product forums. I prefer this way of doing it so the forums don’t get clogged up with loads of questions to wade through.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

Yes there is a presales part that anyone can read but you don’t tend to see the technical stuff people would like to know about before buying. Part of what’s being talked about here is that you can’t even read about the technical stuff unless you own the specific product you want to look at. Shouldn’t have to be that way. There’s no logical reason for it. Again I’m talking about read, not post to a forum.

That’s probably why Toontrack aren’t to keen on using trial versions !
