After installing the EZdrummer 3 and the its core library , it runs perfectly as standalone software , however the Propellerhead Reason 11 does not pick it up and not showed in the Instruments browser like other VST plugins.
I crosschecked the Plug-In folder the EZdrummer 3 components is present in the Plug-Ins folder \Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\Components\EZdrummer 3.component also in this folder \Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\VST3\EZdrummer 3.vst3
Also the UAD LUNA freezes during start up. but when i temporary remove the EZdrummer 3.component from the Plug-Ins folder the LUNA starts to load as normal again.
Your assistance and solutions to this issue are truly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Elvis
Hi,
Reason does not support VST3 plug-ins, which is what EZdrummer 3 is. Last I heard (quite a while ago) VST3 was on the road map for first half of 2022 but you will have to make an inquiry with Reason Studios to get a more precise answer.
LUNA isn’t on the supported DAWs list either but *should* work since it uses AU plug-ins. I am not in front of a UAD system right now, so I will have to get back to you on that.

John

Hi john,
You right, the Reason 11 only supports vst2. I need to upgrade to Reason 12 as it supports vst3.
Thanks also for checking out on LUNA as well, that will be great.
Best Regards,
Elvis
Unfortunately, not even the latest Reason supports VST3, according to the Reason Studios FAQ:
According to my local copy of Reason 12, installed on my MBP as well; it can’t see EZdrummer 3.

Hello,
Is there no VST2 support, only VST3 that comes with EZdrummer 3? This was the case with EZdrummer 2. If so, it would have been nice to mention it in the FAQ. I wasn’t planning on upgrading to Reason 12, now I’m more or less forced to. Or is there another solution to get EZdrummer 3 working as a plugin in Reason 10?
Kind regards,
Bart
Hi,
VST 2 has been discontinued by Steinberg, so releasing a new product (which EZdrummer 3 is, it’s not an update) with VST2 is AFAIK not possible, due to their VST licensing policy, if I understand it correctly:
https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/4409561018258-VST-2-Discontinued
Anyways, the System Requirements on the EZdrummer 3 product page reads:
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS.
18 GB free disk space (plus 18 GB for download).
64-bit Windows 7 or newer, 4 GB RAM (8 GB RAM or more recommended).
macOS 10.10 or higher, Intel or Apple silicon processor, 4 GB RAM (8 GB RAM or more recommended).
A 64-bit host (with support for VST 3, AU or AAX). Standalone is included.

John

Thanked by: ElvisXimenes and Bart BuistThis is the response from the Reason Studio Product Support Team.
“Reason doesn’t feature VST3 support yet, but we’re currently working on implementing VST3 support in Reason 12.
I’m afraid I don’t have a release date right now, but later this year.”
With UAD Luna I tried again and EZD3 works just fine.
I guess while waiting for the reason to release the new update, i’ll just do my tracking with Luna.
Cheers.

Thanked by: Bart BuistYes, I have just run a session with EZD3, EZbass and EZkeys and all work as expected in LUNA on my system.
