You would think, but it is Pro Tools after all. Have you tried looking for the clip in the browser on the right hand side?

To my knowledge, Pro Tools doesn’t support drag and drop to a plugin.

I attempted even from the right side Panel Bins, nothing.

    Hi,

with the introduction of the AAX plug-in architecture, Avid restricted drag-and-drop to plug-ins very tightly. In the RTAS days, many plug-in manufacturers exploited a loophole to drag-and-drop but it was also a potential source for crashing Pro Tools, so Avid explained the restrictions.

If I have recorded e.g. a Guitar and have some Bars highlighted on the Track in PT, I Option+Shift+3 to consolidate the selection and then I ‘Reveal in Finder’ in the Clips List to open the Finder window and show that file selected and drag-and-drop it onto Bandmate. It takes 3 seconds, so I don’t think it’s too much of a workaround.

    BR,
    John

Thx, John. That was the easy fix I was looking for. That is a quick way to create and pull up the clip file that I need to drag into the bandmate area!

What’s the recommended workflow for dragging MIDI between EZ Keys/EZ Drummer / EZ Bass within Pro Tools?

The only way I’ve found is: File -> Save As *.MID – from within the plugin, then drag-n-drop using Finder. Not very efficient.

Is there a better way? TIA!

    Hi there,

Open EZDrummer 3/EZKeys/EZBass (clicking the “target button”) at the top right of each plug-in as it opens. (target button prevents plug-ins from closing when you open another one).

Slightly overlap the plugins so the focus stays away from the Pro Tools work area.

You should be able to drag and drop between the plug-ins.

I am flabbergasted and extremely grateful for this tip. Why didn’t I try this before?
