I can open the EZD3 standalone, but in my DAW (Reason 12), I only get EZD2.
Anyone have the trick to get Reason 12 to allow EZD3 to connect as a VST like EZD2 does?
Try checking the outback up option in settings, then with standalone running, launch DAW. In mine (also rebooted Mac) two entries were then there: EZD 2 and EZD 3.
Thank you. However, this didn’t resolve the issue for me.
I checked the Auto save in DAWs, restarted my Mac, restarted stand-alone EZD3 and opened Reason and still no VST for EZD3, just EZD2.
Still looking into this, but it’s possible that Reason 12 is still not fully working with VST3 software. Such a drap because I was so looking forward to the update to EZD3. Looks like I have to stay with EZD2 if I want to keep using Reason 12. Arrrrgh!
This is the current supported host list. I don’t believe Reason supports VST3.

Thanked by: TomI have read that reason 12 daw does not support vst 3.The reason rack included in reason 12 does but only when used with a different daw that supports vst3.
EZ drummer 3 is vst 3. I have also read that reason is working on implementing vst 3 with an unpromised timeline of Jan 2023.
Hope this helps a little.

Thanked by: TomThank you everyone. Been happily using EZDrummer2 in Reason (VST2) and was so stoked to get EZDrummer3.

@Scott — I realize Reason isn’t in the list, but Reason was also not in the list for EZDrummer2 (from what I recall) and it worked in Reason… so I was hopeful. 🙁
Well, that is a MAJOR drag. I can’t see EZD2 in Reason, it’s miniscule. Guess I’ll be figuring out how to refund this.
Reason’s VST3 support was started in March 2022 and in the works… so here’s to hoping it gets updated soon so Reason users can use EZD3.
I am using Kushview Element, which is a VST wrapper you can use in Reason. Works great. It’s only $5 one time fee. https://kushview.net/element/
However, follow host does not work with Reason for whatever reason. It does not work with EZBass either, which has a VST2 version (no wrapper needed). Since it is also fairly, it’s odd Toontrack didn’t bring out a VST2 version for EZDrummer 3 …
THIS IS A MESSAGE FOR YOUR TOONTRACK PROGRAMMERS. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT YOU COULDN’T MAKE THE VST’S BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? $180 DOLLARS AND IT’S NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE WITH OLDER VST’S. BULLSHIT.

Thanked by: sean3415, giovanni rafii and cabertoThanks to all you previous posters. I thought I was crazy for it not working.
I bought reason 1 and upgraded a lot over the years they made me stop using pro tools and cubasis for recording and became a stand alone. Now I guess we are going back to a vst for reason. And other daws for recording.
Bonjour a tous
Indominion could not have said it better. I would like to know if/how Propellorhead will make it known that an upgraded version of Reason will be available to fix this ridiculous oversight.
I believe there is a beta version of Reason 12 that supports VST3. You’ll need to contact Reason Studio’s for more info.

This is one of the many reasons why I stopped using REASON at version 10.
Reason Studios is always behind the other major daws…sometimes WAY behind. It took YEARS just to be able to make the tracks larger. The only way I use REASON now is for certain sounds or sound creation/experiments.
Now if we could just get a EZ Drummer 3 demo……..
