While initially trying to setup SD3 I kept having issues with the MIDI connection t0 my drums dropping out. I tried 3 different Audio devices and kept running into the same issue. In order to play the drums and access SD3 at the same time, I was using RD to connect to the host computer where SD3 is installed. Eventually, I figured out that IT was the source of the problem. So I set up a second monitor and keyboard so I could access them from the drums and I finally got it to work yesterday. What a major PITA! So now I’m hesitant to connect to that same computer and use RD for any reason if SD3 is running.
Has anyone else had any similar experiences? I didn’t find anything searching the forum, but I find it odd that it would only happen to me… (well, not unheard of, but that’s another story entirely…! ;0)
Thanks in advance,
Paul
In my job we use RD all the time but I have seen devices that just by using RD make the application unstable so it can be a problem. I don’t know of an answer though except what you are now doing.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, RD can be wonky sometimes, but this one was particularly frustrating because it caused no noticeable errors other than MIDI information was no longer being sent by my audio hardware. I had to move my main computer (which had my only SSD at the time) downstairs to the studio, so I was dealing with a lot of new variables and RD wasn’t very high on the list of potential causes, at least not a problem this severe.
Thanks again,
Paul
I use VNC Viewer to connect my windows machine to my Mac Mini (runs VNC Server) where I then use Logic & SD3 and it’s flawless; even with dual monitor support!

Hey Bryan!
Yeah, I use VNC to connect to my Mac, too, but I had to switch to a Windows box cuz my Mac doesn’t have a big enough SSD to store the OS and SD3. I’m not too happy about having to switch, but I am happy with SD3 so far: More versatile than Addictive Drums 2 and the number of instruments far surpasses it as well. The SSD makes my TD-12 extremely responsive, too. AD2 had a tiny lag that was no big deal, but this is like playing the actual virtual instruments themselves. Still haven’t been able to get to all the preset kits, but I’m working on that!
You can run vnc on windows and remote from Mac. I never cared for vnc much as it was slow to respond but that was probably down to going through a lot of networks to get to the destination and not on the same home network.
