Hi all
I am stumped. I have imported tempo from midi to SD3, but bounced audio is not at the right speeds (variable tempos and time sigs in the map). The same procedure worked okay with another song, so I don’t know why this one is not happening. Could there be a problem with the time sigs in the map for example? I mean, if we have written the time sigs and tempos in a weird way (which we might have done) could that jinx it? Bottom numbers in the sigs being recognised in SD3 as too low (e.g. 9/2)?
Having said that, the same midi tempo map (which is ultimately a keys midi file) triggers correctly when I add any old VST in a new project with just the map and the keys midi.
It’s running everything out at 120 I’ve noticed. So it appears to be ignoring tempo changes and time sigs, treating everything as it would be if it were 4/4 @ 120. That makes for some interesting listening for sure, but not quite what we’re looking for 🙁
Time sigs are not included in a tempo map and as far as I know there’s no way to import time sigs via midi in any DAW, app, or plugin.

Hi,

this is not the case, actually. If you export your Song/Project/Session as a MIDI file from e.g. Logic, Pro Tools or Reaper, they include Tempo and Time Signature changes.
These can be imported with MIDI groove data to your SD3 Song Track or separately via the SD3 Song Track Menu. Both in Standalone and plug-in.
The key to getting the Bounce right, if you are using the SD3 internal Bounce, is to Disable the ‘Follow Host’ button before you Bounce, otherwise the plug-in will ‘Follow Host’ but since the host isn’t running, the Bounce will have the Tempo and Time Signature of the current playhead position in your host/DAW.
I hope this clarifies,
John
