i need the conga about 60 to 80

is there a way to half the tempo

i w et to the tracking window but I know nothing about how it works or what to do

is there a way to slow down

the tempo on midi files that are preset ?

    Thanks

where are the piano keys now ?

    ex A1. -A1.  Etc

    it’s not easy without them

    thanks

I use Studio One for my DAW. It can take a track with imbedded tempo information and ‘stretch’ the track to fit any tempo. I can help you with that if you use Studio One, but I expect most DAW’s will have that ability. Worth noting that if you stray too far from the imbedded tempo, it will start to sound ‘NOT’ like a conga any more. Hope that helps. Take Care!

The only way a conga will not sound like a conga is if you are time stretching audio. This goes for any kit piece and Audio. MIDI is just a numerical representation. As far as tempo goes, MIDI on a track will conform to whatever tempo your DAW is playing at as long as follow host is on.

    As far as

so I need to open another SD3

or can I just use a midi track and use the one with drums and use different midi channels ?

The answer is… yes! IOW, there are no rules or best practices in this case. If you’re using a DAW like Logic, and you use the latter, you don’t need another MIDI channel on a separate MIDI track for the same instrument channel.

As far as creating the halftime groove in MIDI, it depends which method you use. In SD3, you can use the Half Tempo option in the Grid Editor for the region. DAWs like Logic support time stretching MIDI by option-dragging the region to whatever length you want. However, YMMV.

do I need to put the midi info in the grid editor ?

to manipulate yesterday I got lucky and took a 120 temp

and divided it a few times in the block menu below

first I started in the track and cut it to half time

really I lucked out but it sounds great

You seem to have found something that works, even if it was a happy accident.

As I summarized  above, as to whether you need the grid editor is pretty much up to you. There are many ways to edit a groove.
