The only reason I install sd2 is that I have old projects that use it in Cubase otherwise I wouldn’t bother. I don’t actually use any of the sd2 sdx’s these days as they are not as good as the SD3 ones.

So do you have the folders with the samples you can direct SD3 to? I have all my old sd2 content so I can just aim SD3 at the them. No need to install sd2. Well unless you don’t have the content?

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

I actually haven’t gotten that far yet. I do not have SD2 installed but I own it, and the Avatar Kit shows up in SD3 for me automatically. I’m not doing any Library Path pointing besides what SD3 does by default on installation. This is why I bring it up, am I missing something from SD2?

I think the Avatar Kit is fantastic from SD2, I use it in SD3 all of the time. I’m just wondering if I’m missing anything by not installing SD2, my Avatar kit is here. I may install and play with it to see myself, I’d rather someone chime in though instead.

    Thanks for commenting, Mark!

I see it now in Product Manager, I just spaced out. Under my SD2 Product, there’s another product called “Avatar SD2.0 Core Library” Product. It simply installs like any other SDX. I guess I’m still curious if installing SD2 has any benefit or any extra content since Avatar is a separate install.

I don’t know as I’ve always had my old sdx’s on a hard drive for years so I just point SD3 to the libraries. What does the toontrack installation manager say you have? Everything you own is there and will let you know what is installed.

I have SD2 installed (only because I had installed for previous sessions, therefore backwards compatibility). If you don’t have that requirement, I would say there’s no compelling argument for installing it.
