I just purchased EZ Mix 2 and looking at which additional packs I could buy. I noticed that several like Randy Staub (which I am interested in) contains no guitar amps but only settings for EQ and buss. In the audio demos I could hear them being used on tracks on already distorted guitar tracks. My question is; could these be used on top of other EZ mix 2 presets such as Big Rock Guitars or Amps, seeing these presets are said to be “mix ready” already?
I have Randy’s pack, there are a lot of great signal chains for a lot of sound sources. You could put them in a chain with Bob Rock’s presets, but it may start to sound overly processed and sterile, but it’s worth a try. I think the producer’s packs in EZmix are best suited for outside or organic sound sources (ie. Vocals, mic’d guitars, DI instruments, drums, etc)
Thanks, that is what I was thinking as well. But I do like the fact he has group bus presets for the guitars which might help glue the guitar tracks together a bit. I was just thinking of using the Big Rock Guitars on my guitar and bass stems and then using the RS on the group buses and perhaps his EQ settings to alter some tracks that might not sit well with other instruments. Hmm…sounds like I just answered my own question. 🙂
