Just bought and testing it out and just want to say one of the best YET… Finally the user presets are fully ready for production use with very minor tweeks.
Great JOB!! Love it! Thx
Cool! Pretty excited to get it but though sweetwater has it for 30 bucks less, MF/GC haven’t got it showing yet and I’d rather use my MF/GC card for 6mo no interest than pay outright.
Bought it and downloaded it in 35mins after it was made live on their site.
Yes, it is one of the best yet for me.
Anyone playing it with edrums? Are there crash and tip cymbal articulations and does it all play well?
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
I’m interested too, also for hihat articulations.

From the product page:
HI-HAT.
Due to the complex nature and immense variation in voicing this instrument offers, the hi-hats were recorded with up to 26 unique multi-sampled articulations.
RIDE.
The ride cymbals were sampled with up to eight articulations. Worth noting are the ‘Bow Tip 2’ articulations, which can be used for impressive realism especially when playing the ride cymbals on e-kits with positional sensing technology.
SNARE.
The snares sampled with ‘wires on’ and sticks include eight unique articulations.
CRASH.
The crashes were sampled in up to seven articulations, allowing you to produce anything from subtle crescendos to using any crash cymbal essentially as a leading instrument.
How does it play though with edrums? I ask as out of the expansions I have not all are equal in how they play.

Im liking this much more than Legacy of Rock. Love the Godfather kit
Just drummed to 9 songs from The Doors and Cream. Godfather Default works straight in the mix.
No issues Ive found yet with my Roland TD17KVX. 🙂
Did some really quick tests to a few Doors and Cream songs, just put the music on a track, Superior Drummer 3 and Fields of Rock (Godfather Kit default preset) on another track. nothing else done, and it sounds pretty nice to me, the top 8 videos. Rubbish drumming, but wanted to see how it sounded. YouTube might have slightly changed the sound like it always does, but they are pretty close to my DAW:
Can’t argue. The drums fit right in. Then again, I’m not surprised since Rockfield is the Studio where most of the albums that I grew up with recorded. Hearing that familiarity in the demos told me that this SDX was a must have.

I’m starting to see what you mean by the Godfather kit. I was doing a drum mix with it just for fun. Added a bit of grunge and a tape back bus (learned that trick from a couple of the Eddie Kramer presets) and I think I found a new go to kit when I need a dry yet punchy classic rock sound.
I’m definitely going to be playing with The Evil Disco kit too. I have a song lined up for that one.

I use UADs LUNA as my main DAW now, haven’t touch Logic in over a year.
I have a simple template, just SD3 as is on one track and drumless cover music on another.
I also have a full production template, that uses the full API Console emulation. I have tape on all tracks and on the Master. I have a parallel drum bus and a verb bus also. And various mastering and EQ on my master chain.
If Im after a quick job and want to keep the original sound of the music and SD3 I use the simple template.
If I want a lot more and for everything to glue together better, I use the full template.
🙂
Just used the Godfather Default kit to drum to two Black Sabbath tracks. I think I might have got carried away and broke my HiHat and my 12″ crash on my Roland TD17KVX lol :). ….amazing kit.
I never said anything about a DAW. I can get 95% of my drum mixing done right in SD3’s mixer. Its plug-ins are very good. The only real time I have found myself needing to use a UAD plug-ins is if I need a Studer A800 tape with possibly the addition of a DBX 160 or Neve 33609 on the drum output. Very rarely do I find the need to go multi channel. Everything that I have done with the Godfather kit so far was done in SD3 standalone. The fact that the drums were extremely well recorded made mixing that much easier.
However, since you mentioned DAW‘s, LUNA doesn’t give me anywhere close to what I need that Logic gives me. Templates are just a very small portion of my workflow. There is far more that I won’t get into right now, because otherwise I won’t get any work done which also means that I will get no guitar time as a result.

I never said you did lol 😉
…but now you mention it ;), I get a much better sound from LUNA than I get from Logic. Lovely and warm analog and tape, especially through the API console and API Summing. All that LUNA is missing is Freeze, Bounce in place and Multi VST out. Yep, no Multi Out yet. So SD3 is on a single track.
I use the 160 for parallel compression on my drum bus a lot though.
But like I said, the Godfather, and a lot of the other kits in Fields of Rock, don’t really need anything other than levels, they are that good!
