Just recently added Upright Bass to EZBass. I added it to a track I’ve been working on in Cubase Pro 11.0.40. I was editing the bass part in a midi track and not in EZBass. I did have a 2 bar pattern loaded but moved it out past the end of the tune so it wouldn’t conflict with the part I was creating. No issues so far but then I realize a fiddle track was not playing any longer although the track is sending MIDI and the fiddle plug-in is acknowledging the MIDI commands but no sound. I save what I had just done, exit Cubase, launch it again. After loading the track, Cubase crashes after the track display finishes loading. All Cubase Windows disappear in an instant. Problem is reproducable. If I launch Cubase without plugins, Cubase loads up, and I can load my track but of course it doesn’t play. No dump files are generated.
I tried some Cubase crash trouble shooting. No help. I removed the Fiddle plugin. No help. I then remove the EZBass plugin since it was the last instrument I added, I can now load the track and play it without issues. I reloaded the Gypsy Fiddle VST and the track still plays fine and no crashes. Seems like EZBass is the culprit.
I love the Upright EBX and don’t want to replace it. What info can I provide to Toontrack to help troubleshoot this?
Win 10 20H2, 64GB RAM, NVidia GPU, AMD 3900x
Cubase 11.0.40, EZBass 1.1.0, Kontact 6 (latest)
Thanks!
Hi Slohcine,
There is a known issue right now with loaded CC in the EZbass song track that makes EZbass freeze.

Do you have CC loaded in the song track right now? We would be happy to look at an EZbass project file to confirm if this is the known bug that is going to be fixed in the next update. Use File > Save as in EZbass and then attach that project save file here.
Please also test disabling Follow Host in EZbass and retry provoking the crash, does it also crash/freeze then?

Thanked by: SlohcineSame here and following.
EZ Fretless and Cubase Pro 11.0.30 in my case. No problems on a simple part in the beginning, but as it gets a bit more vivid Cubase just freezes, which might underline the CC theory. Same when exporting. Exporting always stops at the very same point (where some Fretless slide kicks in).
Thank you and kind regards,
Mathias
Hallo
I have a similar problem when starting an existing song with EZ -Gospel from Cubase 11.040 the error message (CRASHES WHEN EZBASS) I had installed the EZ-Bass update yesterday to install the EZ-Upright
Win 10 , 32GB RAM, NVidia GPU, I7
Cubase 11.0.40, EZBass 1.1.0, Kontact 6 (latest)
Thanks!
Hi
I have the same problem in Logic 10.6.3 where Vibrato (Modulation) on one note in EZBass freezes playback when playback hits the note and therefore Logic crashes. Switching off Follow Host still causes a crash when the song track is played independently. Deleting the Vibrato (Modulation) on the note in the CC track window allows normal playback in either Logic or in EZBass.
Logic 10.6.3
OS Catalina 10.15.7
EZBass 1.1.0
Thanks

Thanked by: Mathias_70The workaround for this is, after loading a project, for each CC curve, select all nodes, move them slightly and move them back to the correct position. This needs to be done every time you open a project though. Saving the file doesn’t save the fix.
Customer support stated that a 1.1.1 fix is on the way but no definitive date yet. Kind of a pain.

Thanked by: SlohcineHello Petter,
Thanks for your response. No, the upright song track should not have had any CC data. Since I removed the EZBass from the project, I don’t have a copy of the song track to send to you. I have added EZBass back to the project and loaded the Upright bass. I also disabled “Follow Host” since I’m using MIDI tracks in Cubase. So far, so good. I have stopped/started Cubase several times and loaded the problematic project without an trouble.
I’ll update this case if I learn anything new.
Thanks,
