Actually, Maschine is very compatible with Logic. I use both Maschine and Mikro with both Logic and SD3, along with other instruments such as Reason. it is not that complicated to set up with the NI controller editor. Plus, you can set up various pad groupings to play in different situations and playing finger styles.

If you want to play edrums in then I’d say there is nothing 100% plug and play. You will always have to tweak. Roland are pretty good and I’m sure others are (I can’t really comment as I only own Roland) if you get a standard set and don’t expand then Roland presets work well. If you buy a new kit make sure there is a preset for that kit. Other Roland presets will work but would need tweaking. What you would have to work on would be the trigger settings on the module so it suites your playing style so there will always be something to do.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

I need to play like as close to a real set as possible without a full acoustic set.

Machine mk3 never worked for me… it wont direct record midi to logic when using the NI suites. IDK what they were thinking.

With SD3 I got further with but the whole “system” with that MK3 is just annoying. They make it far more complicated than it needs to be.

Just need something that’s fully compatible and plug and play.

Mark King is absolutely right when he says that you will always have to tweak. Only way out: you’ll have to outsource the tech thing if you don’t want to have anything to to with it. I can be your SD3-e-drum tech and tweak and optimize things after your preferences. 🙂 You can check out my Software Drumming FB group. So there is a way to get the carefree package without any long learning.

The TD-50 or -27 + the digital pads (snare, hihat, ride) will be a huge benefit along with SD3. You can have the most realistc triggering with it (i.e. a Hihat L-R distinction and a Hihat Bell and Soft-Ride-Choking): the trigger translation in terms of velocity details + Positional Sensing + Hot Spot suppression will be superior (and that all matches Superior Drummer 3) 🙂

Thanks. tD 50 might just be the best investment. Worst case I’ll have a lot of fun!
