Just bought EZD with the Jazz EZX expansion (recommended by a friend) but I’m shocked. There’s not even 1 decent brushes sweeping track in the whole package? I searched the forum and found some posts about the same problem. And then you post a screenshot of Brush delight as an answer? Of course I checked out this bank but I don’t need nervous fills or rolls – I just want a simple and soft brushes beat without any pingy ride cymbal and bass drum bombs. Just a bar / nightclub drummer playing softly. Was I just overlooking something?
If not please tell me how I can sell my download license technically.
If I couldn’t make clear in English what I mean just tell because I’m not a native speaker.
Thank you, Steffen
What you are requesting makes perfect sense to me, too. I would like some brushes options in EZDrummer. Not all users are metal heads or snare drummer thumpers.

Thanked by: madsteffenIf you want it to be extra simple and extra plain, why not create simple basic MIDI patterns yourself?
Sounds to me like the wish for a better metronome 😉
For example, I wouldn’t wanna pay for a simple “kick, snare, kick, snare” quarter note pattern!
License transfer fees countervalue is $ 2,250.00
(done...)
So my anger about the Toontrack license transfer fee introduced in June 2021 is not entirely unfounded...

Joe, I’m not looking for a metronome. For this I wouldn’t need EZD, I could do this directly in Logic as well. The point is, that programming convincing brushes sweeps isn’t easy (I added a sound file that I shortened from a “metronome” loop my drummer recorded for me. Even this simple metronome loop wouldn’t be easy to program). Especially with some variations, different accents and so on. I have the feeling that the Jazz EZX expansion is strictly Hard Bop. All 3 drummers play with sticks and follow a similar conception. It would be ok, if it was labeled “Hard Bop EZX” but Jazz has a lot more styles than this. The provided tracks are quite useless for Swing (not rocking Neo-Swing) or Vocal Jazz or Jazz ballads. I was hoping to have a quick and easy (!) way to get good sounding brushes drum tracks for these styles too.
Have you tried using the Edit Play Style in EZD2 to simplify the more complex beats?

Scott, I’d do if you tell from which file to start. I couldn’t find any sweeping brushes swinging relaxed through a 4/4 beat. I don’t mind a ride cymbal or something else that I can remove. But I need a basic pattern on snare drum.
Load the Brush Delight preset
Go to Brushes MIDI–Per Mikaelsson–Swing 4/4–Song 02 91BPM–Cymbal Variation–Variation 01
Simple brush swirl with swing ride. Make it simpler if you want using the Edit Play Style.
You can also take a basic Pocket MIDI like David Haynes–Swing 4/4–Song 01 120BPM–Cymbal Variation–Variation 01 and drag that to the Song Track. Go to that brush swirl MIDI file from above, copy it, and then paste just the Brushes while keeping the kick, ride and hat pattern.

Scott,
thanks for your input. I did what you suggested but when you mute the ride cymbal you can hear the snare drum and honestly – this sounds poor. That’s exactly the problem. There’s no brushes work on snare drum that could stand for itself (as in the example I’d attached). Perhaps it’s a Midi problem (as I haven’t heard convincing Midi reeds so far). A good Jazz drummer can play with brushes on a snare drum only. Kick, cymbals, Hi-Hat is just the icing on the cake. In your examples, the snare is hiding behind the ride cymbal, just giving some kind of jazzy flavor. But this I already achieved in Logic.
I was hoping for some really good Jazz drums with brushes. Sorry, I don’t see this in EZD. So here is my next question: Is there an uninstaller, to completely clean my Mac from all EZD data (or could you list which parts I’ll have to delete)? And how can I sell a download software? When having sold it would an email be enough to transfer my license?
Thanks for your help.
Steffen
I’m no a Mac user but the Uninstaller is included in the Installer package. If you have cleaned out the installer packages, you do not have an Uninstaller on disk.
Please download the installer package to access the Uninstall option.
As for license transfer, please see this FAQ below:

Sorry I am late to this one, I went to the MIDI Scott recommended and in Song 02 91 BPM > Swirls there is actually very little cymbal, and it’s certainly not dominant. It’s simply swinging snare swirls and with accents around the beat.
I may be totally off base so please… I apologize if that’s the case….

Thanked by: madsteffenThanks, Brad & sorry, Scott,
somehow I missed the Mikaelsson swirls patterns – in fact there is some stuff I was looking for and I guess I can use. So I will give it some time and check out if can can use it – as it is or edited.
And perhaps there will be a more vintage and Swing related EZX edition coming in the future because I’m sure there are a lot of users looking for this kind of stuff.
Cheers, Steffen

Glad you found some grooves you could use. I was actually previewing the Big Band EZX engineered by the amazing Al Schmitt (we sadly lost him this year). There are some additional brush focused grooves in it too. In EZDrummer go to Search > Show Web Shop MIDI to see what’s there.

Hello all, newbie EZD and forum user here. I am searching for exactly the type of brush styles mentioned here by Steffen. I see that this post is a couple of years old. Has there been any new products/packs released that fit this need? Thanks any information!
-peter-
Brad mentions a number of good packs. In addition, there are groove packs such as Roots if you have existing expansions packs.
