Hi Everyone,
I’m running SD3 on a 2019 MacBook Pro (i5) with 8GB of Ram and an internal SSD.
The app works smoothly with Libraries 1, 2 and 5 installed using bleed etc.
I read several recommendations to install the surround libraries even for stereo use, I only mix in stereo but I’m considering installing them.
My questions are:
1.Do you guys think my computer would be powerful enough to mix with these surround libraries?
2.If I install these libraries but mute the surround channels during production will they still impact my CPU and RAM performance?
Thanks in advance
1. 8GB is pretty light if using all bleeds and surround channels. Especially is your using other VSTis.
2. Muting the mixer channels in the S3 mixer will still effect RAM and CPU load because they are still loaded but only muted.

Thanked by: FendrixMany thanks Scott!
One last thing if you don’t mind…
Is it best to keep the bleed library or swap it for the Surround ( number 3), strictly in terms of the resulting sound…
yea… I use many VTS and some are pretty intensive on the CPU already.
Personally I find the bleeds more useful than the surrounds. The surrounds provide more flavors of room sounds and that’s a good thing, but IMHO, provide a level of realism and sound control that I prefer to have control over more than room flavors.

thanks for the amazing support Scott, yea I honestly would struggle without the bleed section. Once you try that is a true game changer…I’ll use a reverb room plugin on each track or busses instead as needed.
Best,
Keep in mind that Download 2 (that you have installed) includes the regular room mic options (“Room Mics 1” OH Cond, Amb Near, Amb Mid) which has plenty of flavor for that beautiful Galaxy Studios room sound.
