Load up the preset you like that has the amount of Toms you want. Then right click on a Tom and select which tom from which EZX you’d like to use…

Shootie, On the same note, I assume that I cannot assign a new tom. Here is my challenge. I have loaded a kit from my EZX, I have noticed that one of my extra tom(4th one) hasn’t mapped to a tom rather a cymbal.I am not able to change it. When I load the drop down, I am getting only cymbal options to change and not the list of toms. I have the EZ drummer version Rock expansion of 4 kits ,

I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks Shootie!

Part 2 of this problem is- if i want my toms all on separate channels in the mixer to send separately to my DAW (Reaper) , do i have to buy an expansion that has all those toms on separate tracks in the mix window?

For example, the Modern DW with 3 racks, 2 floors, has all toms bussed, but the Classic Noble and Cooley has all toms separate, just with no 2nd floor tom.

I created a user kit from the Modern and it still has all toms bussed.

I presume if i buy one of the Metal expansion packs, they will have all toms separate in the mixer with as many racks and floors as i need?? This is getting expensive!!!

    Can you screen cap that?

    You’re correct. Options…

    1. Buy Superiors Drummer 3. EZD2 will always have limitations compared to Toontrack’s flagship product. There’s a discount if you already own EZD2.
    2. When you’re ready to mix. Export individual Tom stems by Soloing the Tom Bus on the Mixer Tab, and then going back to the Drums Tab and turning the individual toms up and down on their respective Properties Panel before exporting. Now mute your Tom Bus in EZD2 and import your Tom Stems to mix.
    3. Like you said, buy the EZX that has the routing. This is a common question so you can search “tom channels” or something similar and see what others have decided to use. EZX’s also work with SD3. So if you decide to upgrade to SD3 in the future, these EZX purchases are not a waste of money if you like the sounds.

Of course simply ask your self, can do this project without individual tom tracks. You can adjust their individual volumes on the Drums Tab (before the bus). Depending on the sound of the Toms you can still EQ them if one is ringing weird, or if one pops more than the other, just adjust that single Tom’s velocity.

“Metal!, Metal Machine, Metal Heads, and Drumkit From Hell” all have at leave one or more Library Presets with 5 Tom Mixer channels. More exist, I just don’t own them to know.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your response. Please see the attached screen cap . The tom is currently assigned / routed to this cymbal.

    Hi Stick_d,

you cannot load a Tom in a Cymbal slot in EZdrummer 2. The other replies here concern routing, your problem seems to be that you are triggering via something that triggers the Cymbal instead of the Tom? Since your Screen shot clearly shows that you have the Cymbal 2 selected, I mean.
You cannot alter the note assignments per instrument in EZdrummer 2 as you can in Superior Drummer 3, you can only use the built-in MIDI map Presets.

John has nailed the answer for you. What midi controller are you using to trigger EZ Drummer 2 with, or what Midi Mapping preset are you using in the Menu>Settings>E-Drums?

Thanks for the response , John. So the way I understood was that I cannot alter the assignments in EZX meaning, By default I have to use the available assignments and mapping. In this case for example , I cannot change the tom modi note from cymbal or I cannot add a new splash I wanted to but I can do this using SD3? Pls correct if I stated this in other way.

I use Roland TD27 connect with USB to trigger the EZX. I am using  the same TD27 under Menu>Settings> controls

SD3 can take care of all of your mapping needs. EZD2 cannot.

To map to EZD2 you must tell your TD27 what midi note it needs to send out when you hit the cymbal.

In EZD2 go to Menu>”Select the EZX you’re using”>Midi Mapping. Find the issue you’re having by locating the instrument you want to trigger and it’s note value

In your Roland TD27, change the instrument in question to the correct midi note that EZD2 requires. Page 40 in the TD27 manual. (whatever note your TD27 cymbal is sending, change it to what EZD2 requires)
