Hi – new SD3 user here…
I have a bunch of previously composed BFD3 tracks in Logic X and I would like to bring the MIDI data from standard Logic regions into the SD3 grid editor for further work. I have read through several posts in the forum and seems like the standard approach is to copy the MIDI regions onto the SD3 track, record-enable the SD3 plugin, select the appropriate key map (matching the “old” track) in SD3, hit play in Logic, and allow SD3’s MIDI note transformation to do its thing. Correct?
I think I have the basic premise working – I managed to get SD3 to record notes in the grid editor while Logic played – BUT the problem is I used a custom key map in some cases with BFD3 (mostly for simpler editing in Logic’s piano roll), so the recorded notes in SD3 are all over the place.
I see the BFD3 key map presets in SD3 but my custom key map doesn’t align with this. A thought I’ve just had is maybe I could create a custom SD3 key map that aligns with my custom BFD3 key map, and select that to do the MIDI note transformation while recording. Before I spend the time creating this temp key map, would this work? Or can anyone suggest another way to approach this?
Thanks in advance for any help!
If you made a custom key map in BFD, then you will need to do the same in SD3.

Thanked by: thomasdiakThanks Jord – would this just be done in the MIDI In/E-Drums tab in Settings? Create a new Preset and edit so it mimics the one I use in BFD3?
