Thinking about getting the Legacy of Rock SDX, touted for its vintage vibe. Wondering how the C&V SDX might compare, given the sale price. Anyone using C&V? Do you like? Thanks.
SD3 3.4, EZK2.1.3, EZ Bass 1.3.1, Win11, i9/9900, all SSDs, 64g RAM, Cakewalk, Studio One
I think Legacy of Rock is far superior (pardon the bad pun). The kits have much more detail and nuance in my view than C&V. And don’t forget about Decades; it has some AMAZING vintage vibe in the instrument selection. Might also want to check out Indiependent.
Also a lesson I just learned — be wary of purchasing the C&V SDX unless you already own the NY Avatar SDX from the older Superior Drummer line. I purchased the C&V SDX and found that half the presets require instruments from NY Avatar, meaning you have to load the presets with missing samples. It’s a huge bummer and support will just tell you to purchase the NY Avatar SDX as well. It’s a huge bummer!
Thanks for the great info, particularly about the presets relying on a completely different SDX, which I don’t have. That’s a head-scratcher. And pretty disappointing to hear. Count me out of the C&V SDX.
