Superior Drummer uses an extended set of midi keys which allows different articulations of instruments to be used. This creates the issue that the midi output from Superior Drummer is often sending out midi messages well beyond the midi keys asigned to the General Midi drum map. So if you take the midi output from SD3 and route it to another drum creation software, many of the midi messages from SD3 will either not trigger any sound (because they are outside of the GM range) or will trigger the wrong sound, as differing pieces of software uses the keys outside the GM range differently.
It would be helpful if, on the settings page, one could check an option for the midi out to be constrained to the GM Map. Once selected, all open hi-hat articulations in a midi pattern would be switched to the single open hihat key in the GM drum map, all snare articulations sent to the single snare key, and so on. This would make it much easier to work with the midi coming out of SD3 in other pieces of software. And if set up as option with a checkbox, the user would always be able to switch back to the midi following the SD3 mapping if needed (indeed, that could be set up as the default behaviour).
Please consider adding this. In my case, it would mean I could use SD3’s excellent midi browsing and song creation tools far more easily with other tools like separate drum machines (both virtual and physical), sampled drums in Kontakt, etc and I am sure I am far from alone in wanting to do that.
Thanks.
