Hello,
I have been using Samplitude ProX as my DAW for as long as it’s been around, literally 20+ years or longer. I bought EZ drummer 2 a few years ago. I should also mention I run a Focusrite Clarrett 8Pre USB interface.
At first and for some time, it worked fine with Samp’s click function. The click would always give a 4 click count off (if in 4/4) then on 1, EZ drummer and the record process would start (on 1) as expected.
Some time ago, Samplitude introduced a new version (ProX5 Suites) so I updated from ProX4 Suites. I soon noticed my click track was usually but not always (the frustrating part), screwed up, in 4/4 time I get 3 clicks, then recording starts on 4, not 1. I sometimes hear the 4th click as recording starts exactly on 4, but not always. If I set the time signature to any other time, it works as it should 3/4 gives me 3 clicks and starts on 1, always. Note, this problem occurs in 4/4 almost all the time, but some times a new project will run EZD2 and the click works fine, 1234, starts to record on 1.
I went through a long and exasperating process with Sampltude’s techs in Germany, they are usually very good BTW, and when they had no idea, they pointed me at Focusrite, blaming them for the problem. They say they have had problems with Focusrite interfaces. Focusrite was very helpful, but couldn’t resolve the issue either.
I have looked in every nook and cranny of the click setup in Samplitude, the new project setup etc, an can find no difference between the projects where EZ drummer2 starts correctly and when it doesn’t (most of the time). I have even taken a project where I get correct click track behavior and converted it into a default template for any new project, essentially a blank project with EZD2 set as a VST on the first track, and sometimes it will work fine, and other times will not. There are no changes made to the projects that work or don’t work correctly.
I should mention too that I still have the prior version of Samplitude (ProX4) installed, and for a while, it seemed to work fine, then stated exhibiting this same behavior. According to Samplitude.s people in Germany, this is okay to run both versions. Also, Focusrite made the suggestion to use a high quality UBS c cable (required to be a “C”) as short as possible, which I have done, and it makes no difference.
If any of you have any ideas, please reply. Thanks in advance.
