Hey Folks,
I’ve been using Steven Slate Drums for many years with Protools and Reaper. I starting using Logic in October 2020 and just a few days ago started using SD3 for the first time.
I’m absolutely loving SD3 and I’ve been watching tutorials on Groove 3 to learn how to use it.
I’ve been working on a track using Logic drums and I am trying to get as close to the drum sounds as I can. I’ve been experimenting a lot with different kits, mixers, stacking drums, etc and I just can’t seem to get close to the sound of the kick and snare.
I’m hoping you can help guide me in the right direction.
I’ve included a link to an audio sample below.
I greatly appreciate your help.

Pearl kick and Ludwig or Tama snare will pretty much give you what you’re looking for. You’ll need to EQ out some of the mid range and add some compression to make it sit in the mix. There are other things that you can tweak from there but I would say try this for a start.

Thanks for the help!
Sorry so long in responding. I didn’t get a notification.
One thing I notice is that when I switch to the 18×16 Pearl Masterworks Kick, it sounds big but needs dampening.
Is that possible?
You can use the envelope release setting to dampen the kick. Using a curved release will create a more realistic dampening effect.
