Does SD3 come with any midi packs or do you have to purchase them?

The SD3 Core library that comes with SD3 when you purchase it contains a lot of drum kits, presets, and MIDI grooves. For many people the core library would fill their needs. But there are many great SDX’s, EZX’s, and MIDI packs that you can add on to SD3 for even more versatility and cool stuff.

Thanks so much for your response!.  That’s what I figured that there would be some core library that would have some midi grooves in it.  If you watch my video I don’t seem to see any of those grooves from the core library… Do you see them?

Keeping in mind it’s been years since I installed SD3, I recall after you installed basic library down load 1, there were 2 updates, 1 for the sound library and the other installed the MIDI library.

Yes I do. Actually there tons of them.
    1. Did you install all of the SD3 downloads? Make sure you did that.

    2. Go to the settings menu and pull down to Advanced. There you can try to “Restore MIDI Database” and check again. (To be safe, make sure that nothing is selected in the Genre, Play Style, Type, and Power Hand areas, and that you have selected Superior Drummer 3 in the Superior Libraries in the lower right in the SD3 window when the Grooves Tab is selected)

If you are still stuck here’s another thing to try:
Right click on ‘Superior Drummer 3’ in the same area as mentioned above in #2. (Lower right corner with the Grooves Tab selected) Then choose “Open in Explorer” and make sure the grooves are there.

Hope one of these solves your problem!

I generally play in my own drums but I was doing a reggae track and to get going I thought there would be something in the SD3 library I could drop in until I then played my own part. No reggae to be found. Seemed a bit odd since it is quite a popular style. It didn’t make much difference to me as I just played a groove myself but I thought it would have been a stock style.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
