Hello,
Lately I’m creating some custom grooves using midis I create out from SD3 and export as midi file. Then, with these exporter .mid files, I’m building the song the “Song track” canvass (where you drag your grooves to) in the pane below, without the song creator.
Whenever I put new grooves (custom in my case) in the timeline, all of them have two names. For example, “Hats closed tip” in the upper side, that refers to the power hand, and below, all of them are “Verse”. Please, see the picture for more clarification, using the official SD3 manual link here.
By right clicking over the midi block I added, I can select “Song Parts“. These song parts are already pre-defined (Fill, Verse, Intro, etc…). I need to add my own song parts like “Solo”, “Interlude” etc… I find no way to create my own song parts or to edit the defined ones. I can just use the pre-defined ones and that’s pretty inconvenient and insufficient for my current needs.
Is there any way I can create new “Song Parts” or at least rename the song part label in the bottom side of the midi block somehow? I find this something to be trivial to be done but I find no human way to do it. Maybe I’m missing something.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and reply.
I have already seen that topic but that one refers to something different. The topic starter wants to rename the block title that refers to the power hand, which name is a piece of the drumset that is being hit by the power hand. What I understood is that at this moment, the “power hand” drumset part name cannot be changed.
I was asking for the Song Part or part name, which is “Verse”, or “Fill”, or “Outro”, etc (not the title in the upper side, which refers to the power hand). Basically what I want is to either rename these song parts or create custom ones.
Cheers

Hi there,
You can right/option click on the block and select > Song Part and select which part you want it to reference.

Hello Brad,
Yes, that’s right. Although, the main issue I have is that I am limited to only the pre-defined song parts displayed in the menu when I right-click on the block and select “Song Part”. See the official Toontrack manual image above:
The core of the topic/issue is that if there’s a way to define my own song parts and/or rename the existing ones, so instead of having:
Get to achieve something like this:
Thanks again for taking the time to read and reply.

Ah I see… sorry I was just thinking about renaming. I don’t think there’s a way to create custom song part names. Good suggestion though.

Thanked by: YusiThanks a lot Brad.
I find this feature quite trivial and a must have… I will keep on checking the thread for a couple more of days for if anyone is able to do it and can tell how, but thanks. For what I have already investigated, I’m not finding any way to do it.
Cheers again, and thanks
I just tried to do the same thing as the OP and was surprised to find out that song parts list cannot be edited.
I add my name as some who would love to see this feature enabled!
+1

Totally agree that this would be a very useful feature to have. Add me to those who would love to see it.
EZDrummer 3 already has this feature, so I was surprised and not a little disappointed to find it lacking from Superior Drummer 3! It’s very useful – particularly if you make music that doesn’t follow standard structures (of which there are plenty genres – progressive and post-metal, just as a for instance). I for one don’t make music that follows the usual tired verse-chorus-verse-bridge structure; I’d like to be able to define my own song part names too. Toontrack seem like a forward-looking bunch, so I expect this will show up in Superior Drummer eventually; the sooner the better please Toontrack! Definitely a +1!
i would like this feature also.
I have been making all my own drum parts.
Tagging on that Id like to see this too! Not being able to set something as simple as “post chorus” or “vamp” makes organization difficult on longer songs.
