Hi all,
I’m using SD3 with Roland TD-30 module , VH12 hihat and as DAW i use Presonus Studio One.
When playing back a Studio One recording, the hihat is playing the fully opened sound instead of closed.
When i press the hihat pedal during playback the sounds coming from the playback react on the way i am pressing the pedal.
I must be doing something really stupid but i can’t find out.
Hi,
it sounds as if there is CC data either sent from your DAW, hardware or on the SD3 internal track. Check for CC1 or CC4 events.

I had a similar issue with my V-Drums, Studio One and SD ages ago. Mine was I had Controllers filtered in the instrument settings. I had looked at these settings before but only at a glance and just assumed that ticked meant it was allowing these messages. It’s only when I looked a bit more closely and thought about it, I then unticked it and it worked straight away!
Options, External Devices, highlight the device for your drum pads, edit then make sure all 4 of the filters are unticked.
Hi Phil Angus,
In which program did you adjust these settings? Is there anything like that for Logic Pro?

I don’t know but I expect so. The hi hat pedal relies on control messages so you need to check through all the midi settings either for the instrument, perhaps on channel 10, or globally and make sure no control filters are activated and the controller messages are being recorded as well as note on and note off etc. The hi hat pedal operates in a very similar way to pitch bend on a keyboard, recording 127 different positions.

There are a few ways to do this in Logic Pro, with the easiest of all being to open your Project Settings and select Midi, followed by the Input Filter tab.
Note however, that this will filter all control changes from every device. If you need something a little more granular, you can either create a real time transformation in the Environment window, or a JavaScript midi FX.

I had this problem too. Would play my e-drums and record my data,
then moved back to the computer to edit and mix, but SD3 would see the open hat from my plugged in kit without my foot on the hihat pedal. I use a fader on my keyboard controller, mapped to midi cc 4(foot control), and send it the closed value by sliding it up. That way SD3 would think that the pedal just sent a “closed” message.
my workaround. Good luck.
