Try this vid… if you check it out and have questions after, write back.

The DAW Reaper is $60 and has a free trial. Might be a good and inexpensive place to start.

That video is awesome of course and I picked up a few things that I didn’t know. Do you have any vids on just playing straight thru a song without stopping (maybe to edit later). I will of course use advanced editing tips more as I go, but for now I’m looking to play along and record with other players DAW tracks.

I also know a Bass player that wants to use Jamulus to play live on line.   Thanks KB

To play and record with other audio reference tracks, you need a DAW at this point. EZD2 will not do this for you as a Standalone program. It does not work with audio files. You must load EZD2 in a DAW to get this functionality. You said you have no DAW. I think this should be your next objective.

I don’t know about Jamulus myself. I’d be impressed if it worked as well as it’s advertising when it comes to latency. Especially for edrumming, since there’s already a native latency with your rig, nevermind, streaming that audio out to a remote location in real-time. Do write back about it if you get some positive results. I’m curious. With guitar/keys/voice I can tolerate a bit of latency in a bind, but with percussion, I image it would be tough or even a hard fail without an elite setup.

I was able to try out a few basic patterns by tap with my mouse like you show in the video. When I try it with my kit it is not recording, What have I over looked. Understand I may need  Midi 101 because even though I have watced a lot of videos I still a total beginner with Midi

You did not explain which kit you have. Here’s something to keep in mind when using edrums with ezd2. EZD2 is limited. 99% of any issue you have with triggering EZD2 will be with your edrum head unit, not ezd2.

Assuming you’ve plugged your ekit into your computer and EZD2 recognizes it in the Midi Device Settings, as explained in the vid you watched, some head units will not broadcast midi until you shut off the internal sounds. With what I originally said in mind, start reading your head unit’s manual. EZD2 is just standing by, waiting to receive midi. As you encounter problems, think about how to solve them with the Alesis head unit, not in EZd2. If you peak the past 3 pages of this forum, you’ll have an idea of what to expect since this is common, especially with Alesis users.

    Hope that helps.

I had already done the Alesis settings which shut off internal and recognize Midi. It plays fine and when I tried to record the EXD2 sounds are triggered (I believe properly, I hear them and see the drums on EZD2 lighting up) I am however currently on hold with Alesis as it mentions how to record tp an external sequencer.

When I try to record beats thru my Alesis Nitro kit,I do have it set to not play Alesis sounds and trigger Midi. I hear it all fine and see the drums being triggered in EZD2. It is playing back but only 1 kick frum beat, 1 snare and 1 ride cymbal(per 2 bar section) I’m assuming that I may need to set notation(or some setting)so that it picks up all the beats. Thanks
