I am runing macOS Big Sur (11.1). I have a fresh install of GarageBand and ezbass. I installed via product manager, along with audio sender. After installing, GarageBand recognizes “audio sender” as a plugin but there is no plugin for ezbass. I have followed the advice here (https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/my-newly-installed-plug-in-isnt-showing-up-in-garageband/) and got GarageBand to “scan” for audio units / plugins. It found audio sender but did not find ezbass. It appears there is no plugin installed?
I went into library/audio/plug-ins and see several plugins, including ezbass and ezdrummer (neither appear in GarageBand, however). See screenshot attached. Note that if I use go –> library I can navigate to a different library/audio/plug-ins folder that is empty (see screenshots again). I don’t think that is the issue, however, as I see the amplitube plugin in the same folder as the EZdrummer and EZbass ones and neither of those show up in GarageBand.
I have heard that Big Sur breaks some plugins; I would like to be able to use these plugins! What steps can I take from here? What is going on here?
Hi,
Your last screenshot shows the correct Library folder and we can see there that the EZbass AU is installed. In GarageBand, I think you’re just looking in the wrong place. EZbass will not be in the same menu as Audio Sender. If you create a software instrument track, look in the first plug-in slot (which is normally occupied by some default instrument) – it contains a submenu “AU Instruments” where you should find Toontrack > EZbass.
