I feel the 3 basses that are now on EZBass share the same articulations. A very pronounced first attack, a long sustain and then a very immediate lift off the note. The note sustain can last up to 5 measures with almost no decay and ends with a very abrupt stop when lifting off the note. I have tried using velocity, damping and dynamics to achieve the sound of a”soft” first attack of a note and although they do make their appropriate changes to the note it’s not the same as a softer initial attack on the string. Secondly, when playing let’s say ballads one might want the notes to fade sooner than when the next note is played. The current instruments all have a very abrupt ending when lifting off a note. I have found a work around by attaching a CC to the volume knob and writing in the articulations for all the notes that need it but it is labor intensive. I know that there will be future basses added to EZBass featuring different playing styles but I think these suggestions would work best as a global setting in the grid editor. This would allow all basses to use the articulations.
Soft Attack – an articulation of a soft attack on the string. An option of using it per note or for an entire song.
Note Fade – I perceive to see this working like the slope feature but on a per note basis. A possible application could be setting 3 points to one note where the 1st point is the initial attack,2nd point would be the sustain (length) and the 3rd point would be where the note gradually moves down from the second point to silence. Having a soft curve from the 2nd to 3rd point would give a natural fade. All these points would be user movable. Having preset curves to choose from would be useful.
Like many I’m hoping for an Acoustic Standup Instrument but until then I’ve been using the Classic Rock Bass with the Clean DI-Finger and then using the Damping feature to dull down the instrument. With some creative EQ you can have a bit of fun with it. Doesn’t have all the subtle nuances I get with my standups on Trillian but it’s fun:) Looking forward to hearing what others think about these features.
