Hello I’m a Music producer and educator!
I love SPD3. I would love to learn how to map each individual drum and cymbal to a separate midi channel with out using a rewrite work arround. I know we have up to 16. I can’t seam to access any midi out settings on my MacBook Pro. I’m running logic and I am using the score editor to print out my scores for my students and engraving my own compositions.
Guys I solved My issue!
It had nothing to do with Multi timbral settings although it would have been easier.
I have been using a custom mapped instrument in logic to play drums, record it on a midi track and print out scores from the score editor/ Make a screen recording for my students based on any exercise. I wanted that but with the various drums and cymbals in superior. Unfortunately Superior drummer is not mapped like traditional percussion mapping GM Map.
The fix was to “Translate” the Midi map of SD3 to the GM map “language’ and then rout it to another track to record that Midi data and have the viewable score that I needed perfect for Drum Kit Notation.
My solution was to create 2 new mapped instruments. (in the logic environment)
One mapped Inst. For SPD3 map (I manually had to change its input name) And One Mapped Inst. that I’m calling the Translator. Which I mapped the output of every single note C -2. through G8 I think to the appropriate spots in the GM Maps and then using this video to more or less accommodate the rest of the notes and make sure that the note heads are placed correctly in the score view once routed to an external midi track.

(IN SPD3 YOU MUST ACTIVATE THE MIDI OUT FUNCTION FIRST IN THE SETTINGS)
Basically the Midi out of SPD is sent to this translator. The translator Mapped Instrument then reorganizes the midi data and outputs the midi data to a GM midi mapped version that has been calibrated to work perfectly for the Logic Notation. In theory you can send this info into other programs too like sibalious and what not guitar pro ETC. I LITERALY DIDNT SLEEP TRYING TO SOLVE THIS.
However Multi timbral support would be nice
I know that SD3 has 16 stereo out but I think it would be so good if it also had 16 midi channels out, and a dedicated menu to route midi info out and not just mapping.
You could have just created a mapped staff in Logic and added SD3’s notes into it. Far simpler to implement.
