did you install EZKeys before purchasing & installing Studio One 5?
if so, reinstall EZKeys now that you’ve installed S1 v5.
    pretty that should fix it.

Yes,  purchased EZKeys first. Then purchased studio one 5. I can reinstall ezkeys to see if that does it. Thanks for your timely response.

Did you purchase Studio One Pro or Artist? Studio One Artist requires an add on for 3rd party virtual instruments.

Correction: as Scott pointed out this changed in Studio One 5. It is no longer an issue. Apologies.

I’m betting that this is more likely your situation, Stevet88keys.

I forgot about the limitation & add-on to Studio One Artist (versions 3 & 4).

    Good call, Brad.

Correction:  Studio One Artist version 5 DOES include support for third-party plug-ins, virtual instruments, and ReWire-enabled applications.

Hello, this is a follow up to my previous post about EZKeys. Here’s where I’m at now. Purchased EZKeys and realized it would not work for me as a DAW.

1)So, I purchased Studio One 5. 2)Then, because of your integration between products, 3) I purchased EZBass. The main reason was so I could record piano in EZKeys, drop it into EZBass to generate bass parts.

So, after watching various videos about EZKeys and EZbass I start trying to use them together. They don’t seem to play the piano and bass at the same time unless I’m not using the app correctly. The videos I watched did not talk about the set-up. But in order to get EZKeys and EZBass to work with your DAW they talk about the’ SYNC TO HOST’ button which I don’t have. because these are standalone apps if I understand things correctly(even though they show up as plug-ins in Studio one). Therefore, you don’t get syncing with a host DAW or Midi In /Midi out functions.

Can they not be used together without a DAW to accomplsish what I want?

Also, If I launch EZKeys inside Studio One it renders the app so small, it’s almost useless. Please advise if possible.

You need to look into how to load EZkeys and EZbass as plug-ins inside Studio One.  When used in your DAW, not standalone, they will sync.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll continue to explore. I’m still Curious about the size of EZKeys when launched as plug-in in studio One 5. Is  there a ‘scaling’ option somewhere to increase the size. Thanks for your help.

I Found the Enable DPI Scaling Button in EZKeys. That solves the scaling issue.

You need to look into how to load EZkeys and EZbass as plug-ins inside Studio One.  When used in your DAW, not standalone, they will sync.

Open session or create a new one. On the left hand side you will see the browser (if you don’t, then select View > Browser. Select the Instruments tab to show the instruments you have installed. Expand Toontrack and drag EZBass, EZDrummer or EZKeys to an empty space on the session. It will create a new track with the assigned instrument. Select the “Monitor” button or the Record Arm button on the track to “play” the instrument from an external; device (e-drum, midi controller, etc)

Screen print attached. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the follow-up. I am continuing to work with not only the Toontracks products(EZKeys and EZBass), but Studio One as well. Previously, I had been using hardware based solutions (synths, digital pianos and workstations). I decided to switch to software based production. Now, also, using a Nektar LX88+ Midi-Controller so I’m wrestling with learning curves with multiple products across vendor lines at the same time.I appreciate your quick turn-a-round on my questions and issues.

I use a Nektar LX88 as well. Been using it for a few years and really enjoy it. I don’t use it as a control surface because I have a Faderport and Faderport 8.

The LX88 integration with Studio One is pretty cool, just be aware that every time you update Studio One you will have to reinstall the integration. At least this has been my experience on Mac, Windows may be different.

Studio One 5 has greatly improved it’s integration with external devices (synths and sound modules). I found it sped up workflow quite a bit.

Thanks Brad. I think the Nektar LX88+ is going to be great for me in this environment. I’m currently using the control surface – Have had some success but it’s all very trial and error.  Once I’ve got a handle on all the components in my set-up, hopefully I can be productive. Thanks again!!

Somebody mentioned the “Enable DPI Scaling” button in EZKeys. Where is that? Thanks! Perhaps it’s only in the Mac version.
