I’ve done the search. I’ve emailed support (but won’t hold my breath). I purchased Superior Drummer 3. Registered using my serial number, downloaded abd installed the SD Product Manager software, then downloaded the Library Part 1 Basic Sounds Library. However, when I try to install that Part 1 Basic Sounds, I get a message ‘Software upgrade required – you need to upgrade to Superior Drummer 3.0.0 before installing this’. What the hell does that mean? I thought I had SD3. I just paid a lot of money (almost £300 – a lot for a pensioner like me) and have yet to experience the product! If it was a tv, I’d be back to the shop pronto to demand something that works or a refund!
Can anyone tell me what I need to do? Please bare in mind my IT skills are very basic. Thanks. If I get a satisfactory response from the Support Team in the meantime, I’ll post here ……. but I’m not expecting much if my experience so far is typical.
Here are a couple of simple things to check – you may have already done this, so please forgive if this information is redundant. Have you actually installed the Superior Drummer 3 software to your system through the Product Manager? Downloading it is one step, doing the actual installation is another. After turning off and then restarting your system, if you were to open the Toontrack Product Manager (while connected to the internet of course) and look at the left-hand side of the screen, what do you see? Are you given an option to “download”, “install”, or “update” any of your products? At the very top of the screen does it indicated that “All installed products are up-to-date”?

Thanked by: LoopydogThank you Jeff. Both Product Manager and Basic Sounds Library now show ”Ready to use”.
So ….. how the hell do I launch and use it? (am I being thick?). I expected to be able to click on an icon and then see and use the drum kits and select drums?
Thanks
Great! Note that I’m using a mac system and I see you’re on Windows, so things might work slightly differently than what I’m describing, so keep that in mind. You can either open SD3 within the DAW program you’re using, or, you should be able to launch it as a standalone product.
For standalone;
Locate your applications folder and find the Toontrack folder within. You should see an icon labeled SD3 located alongside the icon label PM for Product Manager. Click the SD3 icon and the program should come to life and show you the drumkit screen that you’ve seen in all the ads.
Within your DAW;
You’ll load SD3 like you would any virtual plugin instrument. Create a software channel, and in the slot where you load instruments, you should click and find an entry labeled “Toontrack”. Click that and it should give you an option to select SD3. Choose SD3, and your instrument should be loaded and ready for use.
I’d also point you to YouTube where you’ll find many different videos that explain many of the program functions in a visual way. I’ve found them quite helpful.
I hope this has helped you get started, and hopefully someone more knowledgable than I will respond as well if any of my information has been less than accurate! It is a VERY powerful program and I learn something new each time I use it.

Thanked by: LoopydogHey Jeff, thanks for your help again. With your sage advice, a bit of google research and my own perseverance, I was able to get it to open and I’ve managed to link it to my e drums and start to choose different drum sounds – which is what I bought it for in the first place, to improve the sounds coming from my inexpensive e drums. Mind, it took me a long while to work through, as I’m clueless about what these things are – DAW/midi/apps etc , so you can imagine, it’s a whole new world to me (well, I am a pensioner and don’t even own a smart phone!). I’m well aware that SD3 has tons of stuff I’ll never use, but, hey-ho, it looks like it’s going to give me what I need, so I can start to have fun bashing about. No doubt I’ll be back on here to ask a lot more questions, but just to say, I appreciate your help. We each have our skill sets – mine are bikes (motor) and greyhounds (the dogs, not the bus!), so if anyone wants any advice o0n those ……
When I try to open Superior Drummer in Logic Pro, I get the following message:
“The installed resources and the plug-in are not the same verion”
“Plug-in version 3.2.5”
“Version of resources 3.3.6.35757”
In the Product Manager it says the AUs are “partially loaded.”
I have tried to reinstall, but it doesn’t fix the problem.
Please help.

Sounds like you didn’t update the AU. Do a custom install and ensure that AU is selected.
