It seems your buffer and Sample Rate are already as low as possible. Do you have an audio interface? See if any of your music buddies will let you borrow one before purchasing. Plug that in, and switch to it in EZD2’s settings, see if that helps out. If you have any windows machine laying around, install ASIO4ALL driver and use the PC instead. It’s unfortunate a Macbook with an i7 can’t do this for you as-is.

Regardless, any Mac I’ve owned in the past with a typical Audio Interface did fine.

If my only goal was to get latency down with EZD2, I would buy whatever is used and local from Facebook Market or Craigslist, if you have the option. If I had $1000+ I prefer RME. If I have $100 and under, I would look for any 2 channel Presonus or similar. Since you’re looking to fix the issue that is not Toontrack related, I recommend researching at vdrums.com.

Solved: switch from the built-in macbook speakers to the audio output device and headphones, reduced latency to 1.5 ms
