Just load a kit and then select the snare and just replace this instrument to try different snare sounds. You can turn off all of the other drums/cymbals as well if you want (highlight then right click and “remove instrument”). cheers, Andrew

This allows me to go through the snares within a particular preset, but sometimes I want to try out the different presets (including their different mix styles etc). What I would like to do is either:

    a) Load just the snare from the preset (and associated overheads, mix settings etc)

    or

    b) Switch off (‘remove’) the other drums, but have them stay switched off while moving through the presets list.

In that case try this. Load up a full kit first. Then:

1 – remove all instruments you don’t want so leave snare only

2 – to change to a different snare and preset, highlight the snare, then hold control down and go to mixer and choose all channels you want to load another preset (include microphone channels and any bus channels you want)

3 – select preset you want and click the  down arrow on the right and choose “select parts”

4 – highlight “only selected instruments” and “only selected channels” and untick “load macro controls” then press load parts.

this will then bring in only the new snare and only the presets from the channels you chose (eg snare top, snare bottom, room, oh and any other effect channels etc).

    Hope this helps.

Thanks ondjpayn – this seems to be the closest solution possible, although it’s still clunkier than just stepping through the presets. In fact, no need to select the mixer channels, as it’s mainly the sample loading that takes time.

I would still very much like the feature to ‘deactivate’ (rather than just ‘remove’) drums though, for times when I am using Superior for a single drum rather than a kit. I will email support with a feature request.

    Thanks!
