Hey guys,
So apple have done it again and forced an update on my copy of Logic updating it to 10.5, and now when ever I try to load a preset in Superior Drummer 3, it causes the program to crash. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?
Thanks in advance!
Is it a single preset or all of them? Most of the plug-in issues with Logic have been tied to Catalina, and you’re showing to be on Mojave. I have been using SD3 with 10.5 and haven’t had any issues loading presets, user or factory.
You may want to check your project and/or preferences. It may also be a permissions issue, so check that as well.
Apple doesn’t force updates, BTW. You have Automatically Update checked in your app store app prefs.

Thanked by: melodic shredHey Jord,
Thanks for the reply dude. I’ll make sure to uncheck that box. It seems to be on every preset. The other day it was happening just on my own user presets, but now it’s happening on all the stock presets too. Thing is I’ve never had this problem until I update to 10.5, so I’m not sure what’s changed. If it’s a permissions issue where would I look for that?
Thanks again!
You would want to use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Best to reboot your Mac into Recovery Mode (hold cmd-R) and do this as it may uncover other issues. Updating Logic may have only been a catalyst.

Thanked by: melodic shredBrilliant thank you I will try that!
I use the same and have no issues. New Logic and SD3. Everything working great on my end.
Pending that, I have more “brute force” methods to check, but would require going into the Terminal.
Let us know what you find.

Thanked by: CoryHorganAny more word on this? I am also having the exact same issue since waking up to 10.5 yesterday. It is crashing when I try to change/load most presets (it’s randomly let me open “Metal Organic” and “Dry Seventies” but has crashed on everything else). It’ll load up fine into presets, it just crashes almost every time I try to change them.
I did not find any issues when checking in Recovery Mode. Time machine backup doesn’t seem to be an option either. Any help or update would be appreciated!

Same Issue, SD3 keeps crashing in Logic, since I got 10.5, and its almost every time I launch it, or try and open work with in the plugin, if it loads, and its getting really frustrating.. assist please..
This is happening to me as well, Logic immediately crashes whenever I open up SD3. From what I understand, 10.5 is crashing with other third party plugins as well (I think Native Instruments is having this issue too) – hopefully Apple fixes this ASAP.
If Logic is launching okay without SD3, you might want to try disabling SIP and reinstalling SD3 (and possibly Logic).
Here’s a link to disable SIP: https://www.imore.com/how-turn-system-integrity-protection-macos
Remember to re-enable SIP after you’re done.

Logic 10.5.1 has been released.
Some of the major crashing issues with Logic have been addressed. Hopefully, those experiencing crashing with SD3 (I haven’t so I wouldn’t be in a position to tell) will find this update helps.

every time I go into grid editor SD3 CRASHES. I just move the SD3 window and it will crash. this also happened to me using High Sirrea. I just updated to
the new logic updated 10.5.5 and it is even worse.
Try rescanning SD3 in the Plug-in Manager in Logic 10.5.1. If you still get crashes then, please upload the crash reports and describe what you did.

Thanked by: David ScottI too have this problem. If I restart the computer sometimes SD3 works for like 2 minutes before it crashes. Has Toontrack confirmed this issue? I hope there will be an update soon!
