Hi all, I’m about to give up with SD3 all together and just stick with the V expression packs. I just spent $2600.00 on a new HP Zbook 17 16GB I7 9850 6 core processor replacing my old Dell I7 8gb (max) laptop thinking it would improve latency. I setup SD3 with the midi in/edrums setting as the TD50 and the Audio out as ASIO and the TD50 as the audio out. Horrible latency.
I’ve tried Direct settings and TD50 in the audio setting. No luck. Buffer setting at 64. Useless software (sd3) for me. I have read many posts with no help. Clearly I must be doing something wrong. I don’t want to waste anymore $$$$ on an audio interface to get the same results. I just don’t get it? I see some people have the safe issue and some do not? Any help is appreciated. Not sure if the is the place to post?
Thanks in advance and stay safe.

Try sending the audio out of SD3 to the headphone jack on your laptop, and listen to it that way, rather than sending the audio back to the TD50.
I use a TD50 and SD3 with a Macbook laptop, and don’t have these issues, so I anm wondering if it’s a problem with the audio card on your Windows laptop.
Sorry that you are having latency issues. Your computer is certainly not the issue. I’m running off of a MacBook Pro i7 4core 2.7ghz w/16gb ram. I do however run my files off of a OWC Envoy Pro EX Thunderbolt 3 SSD which can run at 2800MB/s. So right off the bat, I’m getting my data really fast from my drive. The other thing I have, and this may be your problem, is an UA Apollo Twin X interface which also has a Thunderbolt 3 connection. My buffer size is 64 which gives me an output latency of 0.5 ms. I’m using a Trapkat and a couple of Drumkats to trigger SD3. Latency is not an issue at all. SD3 is not the issue, it must be somewhere in your setup. I don’t know how a PC works, I’m a Mac guy but I’ve run my setup without the Apollo (using just the Mac headphone out) and had no latency issues (just lack of fidelity). One issue I had early on was drop outs, but oddly enough when I told SD3 to only use one processor, the problem went away. That worked so I never went back to using more than one processor.
Bottom line, it’s not your kick ass computer, but in the preference settings. If you are looking to spend money (and who isn’t these days) look into an interface with Thunderbolt3 (like an Apollo, which by the way, has the greatest sounding plug-ins out there) and a SSD with TB3. Sorry I can’t be of more help with your PC.
When I first got SD3 and played my Trapkat, there was like a second delay. Not fun. Good luck, don’t give up on SD, it’s actually pretty great. And I’ve had pretty much every other drum VI out there.
