Hi all,
I’m very new to SD3 and Logic Pro X. I’ve been tinkering with developing my own drum tracks in the SD3 MIDI track editor, and my edited tracks appear in the track view. I have created a drum track that I like, and I have copied the MIDI to a MIDI track in Logic. When I playback and record, how can I prevent the drum track from playing in the SD3 track editor (i.e. it playing back in both Logic and SD3)? This is particularly troublesome when the drum tracks are offset relative to the beginning of the track.
It looks like I can simply delete the MIDI from the SD3 drum editor, but I would like to avoid this if possible. Additionally, is there a way I can drag MIDI FROM logic TO SD3 to re-edit MIDI in the SD3 editor? It looks like I can export and import MIDI in SD3, but I was wondering if there’s a faster way.
select all of the MIDI in the SONG TRACK, right-click, and choose [Mute] from the Block Menu.

Thanked by: ChadwickDunderc0ck and mofongotronThanks! It looks like I just needed to mute the MIDI region itself, rather than the whole instrument track in the song (which would also mute the SD3 editor).
You could also deselect Follow Host on the SD3 transport, which prevents the track in the SD3 editor from playing.

Thanked by: mofongotronPerfect! That would make sense, since it would decouple SD3 and the DAW. This seems to alleviate the issue! In addition to the double playback, what it as most worried about was not being sure how to leave the MIDI in the SD3 editor alone in case I wanted to edit it later without having to delete/export-import it.
Speaking of which, is right clicking the MIDI and exporting it the most intuitive way to do so? I remember reading somewhere that you could drag MIDI from the editor into somewhere in the grooves window.
You can drag your regions onto the Arrange track in Logic. Mind you, it does have me wondering if you are doing anything in the Arrange window that requires SD3’s MIDI on be on it? If not, all you may be doing is duplicating efforts.
