Hi!
How can I get my SD3 and SDX Expansions to work in Pro Tools if they’re installed on an external hard drive? Everything works within the SD3 Application but when I try loading them in Pro Tools, unless they’re installed in the Home Folder, Pro Tools just crash. Installing everything in the home folder is not an option since my hard drive is only 500 gigs. SD3 Already take half of it because it didn’t work in Pro Tools when it was installed on my external hard drive. I know I can always build up my songs in the SD 3 applications, then bounce to audio, then import to Pro Tools but it’s way too long when you’re in a creative mindset and want to create on the spot and record guitar riffs right away on top of your drums loop.
Thanks,
Carl
Is it possible you have SD3 installed in both your system and user home directory? Plug-ins installed in the user home directory are often read first by applications.

I run Pro Tools (2019.12) and SD3 from an external 2TB SSD
on a Mac running OSX 10.12 (Sierra) with no problems.
I wonder if your issue has anything to do with OSX Catalina.
