Found the problem. Randomize needed to be switched off. I’m a happy camper now 🙂

I’ve an problem which is driving me crazy.
I have my crash cymbals velocity set to between 120 and 125. A velocity of 127 produces a splashy sound which sticks out of the mix like a sore thumb. But no matter how many times I play back a track in SD3 the velocity on the crashes seems to randomise and produces that horrible splashy top velocity sound which destroys the mix. The problem is, it doesn’t happen in the same place each time. And if I go back and listen to the time where it happened, it never does it in the same place. The velocity is always below 127 but play the track on and within 10 seconds another splashy cymbal jumps out from nowhere. Rewind to check and once again it reverts to normal. Play the track on and… you get the idea.
I hope I’ve explained the problem adequately. I googled this and can’t find an answer.
