I’ve now seen many complaints that you didn’t mic the ride and I get it. There are already a ton of mics. But I had a suggestion that might be possible after the fact: the ability to add redundant channels. Like for example, the overhead condensers. I would love to add say a second set just to isolate the ride from the other cymbals.
Speaking of channels, and this is minor but drives my ocd a** up the wall: Can you Please give us mono busses and outputs. When I was routing to pro tools I dealt with stereo outs fine because I could set set mono PT channels to accept the left side of an output.
But now I’m on Cubase and it drives me mad that a mono snare must end up on two channels. Is it just me? ?
Love love love your product and am constantly praising it. Just ask my 7yr old. ? Want to see it be even better.
All the best
All of these capabilities are already available within SD3, including mono outputs to Cubase. The ride cymbal can be output to its own channel using microphone routing as well as bus routing in the mixer to go to different channels. The routing capabilities are limitless. And, since you’re on the subject of the snare, it was discussed in a different thread about this: the snare bottom was intentionally recorded in stereo, which is why you would be getting two snare channels.

Just to add to jord’s reply:
Right-click the Ride and then > More > Route Instrument Microphones…
There you can not only route instrument microphones to existing channels but also create new ones, which in practice lets you isolate e.g. the Ride from the other Cymbals if you wish to.

Thanked by: Daniel Beroffjord, I’ve attached a pic of my sd3
routing to cubase. Appears only as stereo sets. Maybe there’s a different way to do? A.f.a. the snare, I was referring to the top snare, which is a mono mic..
john, The “route instrument microphones” worked. Thanks
