Just picked up EZDrummer on Black Friday sale and have some suggestions as a new user, perhaps nothing new…
- please implement full keyboard support, at least for Ctrl-C Ctrl-X Ctrl-V for copy/cut/paste. Copying and pasting with mouse is really tedious especially when pasting takes 3 clicks to choose All from the menu
- when pasting, please keep the pasted items selected, so if they’ve been pasted in a slightly wrong position, they can just be dragged, rather than having to select them all again and then drag them
- again please implement keyboard support in the Tap2Find screen, maybe have a button to make keys appear on each drum e.g. X on the kick drum, S on hihat, D on snare, E R F on toms etc. so that I can easily tap out a rhythm, it’s hard to do it on the mouse and I don’t always have a MIDI controller hooked up, and many people don’t have one at all
- again for the learning feature, please have a metronome, it’s hard to tap out a rhythm without hearing the tempo, metronome could be turned on/off with a button
- ripple edit (again toggle on/off with a button) feature so that if I move something to the right, everything beyond it also moves, or if I shorten a piece, everything to the right of it moves left to fill in the gap. Would be very helpful when changing arrangements, instead of having to zoom out, select everything, move it over, zoom back in to resize the desired item, etc.
- separate outs for every drum (maybe this is in there already?)
- separate mixer controls for each drum, not just kick/snare/OH/ambience
- add-on pack for vintage, surf and rockabilly patterns – check out The Ventures, early Beach Boys, early SUN Studio stuff, Stray Cats etc. for ideas
Great fun working with it so far, just some ideas that would speed up my workflow tremendously. Thanks!
