    Hey all this is a really important one for me because it means effectively that in S3 you can’t fully edit a hi-hat part played in from an e-kit.

    The software will ‘remember’ what you played in, opening and shutting, all the mistriggers off the hi-hat item (i.e. VH11, which misfires a lot) and no matter what you do, including ripping the entire hat part out and programming it in from scratch, S3 will still only allow what you played in earlier as the part. Even if you move from articulation to articulation, it will still remember opening and shutting or any other hat event EVEN IF YOU HAVEN’T PROGRAMMED S3 TO DO THAT.

    So I’m doing something wrong, or S3 needs a sort out!

    I have a similar problem, I have a drum track finished and then decide to delete some cymbal crashes and move others. I save the file and then close the program, when I come back to work on the track the cymbals have returned to their original position, this doesn’t happen when I move toms or snare beats ??

    @Roland Rat:

    I’m pretty sure that what you are experiencing is the result of your recorded CC data from your VH-11.

    If it still is on your Song Track, it will affect the HH notes, no matter how you move or replace them.

    Switch the Lane View in the Grid Editor from Velocity to CC4 to inspect and edit.

    When you edit your notes, you need to make sure there is no conflicting CC data.

    @topgooner:

    Are you talking about notes in the Grid Editor or the row position in the Grid Editor? Can you please elaborate?

    Hi John

    Yes many thanks I think that works. I suppose the quick way to edit hi-hat then is to rip out all the dots in the enable curve screen, and edit as you please in velocity mode. Ripping out the curve doesn’t seem to affect the recorded stuff I don’t want to edit, but it does enable editing on the stuff I do. Right?

    Rat.

    Well, first of all the dots on the CC4 lane are all connected to your HH playing, so yes; removing them will not affect any other instrument.

    But I think that maybe it’s more adequate to move them accordingly to how you move notes?

    You can lasso-select several dots and choose whether or not you have the Snap to Grid on when you move them.
