I really wonder what has happened to the development of EZKeys. Is it dead?
The user interface is absolutely unreadable for the most displays. Why is the UI still so tiny in 2019??
Why does Toontrack only care for midi packs and not for the useability of the software?
From a customer point of view it really looks extremely unprofessional that only the drum software plugins evolve but not the keys software, which imo is as important as the drums if not more.
Agree about the issues with EZKeys lack of updates. Similar issue to the ever promised, never finished EZBass that’s supposed to arrive in 2019. Toontrack may be having some real product development/technical snags. I can understand, just would be nice if they’d talk about it.
I also agree with both views above.
It’s great to hear that EZBass will be arriving, but I just checked when I purchased EZKeys and it was around March, 2015. That is truly a long, long time in the world of software development.
Toontrack has spent a lot of time in developing other products and they are truly fantastic…but, I would truly like to see a delay in developing/expanding some of the other products and to see improvement in EZKeys.
I do not fault Toontrack for developing the, “Big Sellers” as that is how companies make profits, but 4 and 1/2 years to have EZKeys reach 2.0 is again a long, long time. And very discouraging as I try to work on such a teeny, tiny GUI.
My fingers are crossed as I’d like to see a good product become as great as some of their other developed products.
Lastly, I understand that it is Toontracks policy to not discuss what they are working on…but, no news for such an antiquated product is extremely disheartening. They did announce that 2019 would be a banner year for their new and improved SD line (and it has been), but has EZKeys become an orphaned child? I sincerely hope not.
+1, I have been an advocate for EZKeys 2.0 for years. Still waiting, but I am not getting any younger.
To answer the opening question, yes they have abandoned it. Obviously. The GUI is a joke. The “developers” should be ashamed of themselves at this point if they’re still referring to themselves as that. Three words are all that need saying: They. Don’t. Care.
SD3 3.4, EZK2.1.3, EZ Bass 1.3.1, Win11, i9/9900, all SSDs, 64g RAM, Cakewalk, Studio One
I assure you that we haven’t abandoned the EZkeys software line. If we could we would constantly update all our software, but the problem is that we aren’t a huge company that can put those resources to both update all older software and come up with new ones simultaneously. We have to prioritize some, and during some parts of time, some software will have to wait to get the next big version released. But, as I said, we haven’t abandoned our keys users!
And regarding all feedback we get, we gather everything and evaluate it, and take it into consideration for coming versions, so you aren’t speaking out to noone 🙂

Toontrack
I have to agree, sadly I’m very turned off to Toontrack as a company.
I purchased EZKeys along with some additions and now feel that after they got my money they abandoned the product. This does not instill confidence in my purchasing any further products. I was frankly very enthusiastic about this product but feel now I will have to look elsewhere.
That said, EZKeys was an incredible tool with much potential, but I feel that momentum is lost. I will now wait and see where their products go first before and if investing any further monies.

Well I am surprised. I did not realize the size of the company. Your product line seems to indicate a much larger company. So this explains a lot to me regarding why we have never seen EZKeys 2.0. Obviously the EZdrum line has been the flagship.
Here is a bit of company background from the website:
What began as an experiment ended up as Drumkit From Hell – a collection of drum sounds that would come to change the face of the industry. “We just wanted great sounding drums for our own songwriting. We had no aspirations of even selling it in the first place”, says Mattias Eklund, Toontrack’s co-founder. That was some fifteen years ago. But instead of being a two-man operation and having an “office” in the bedroom of Mattias’ apartment, Toontrack now employs almost 30 people in four countries and continues to spearhead innovation of creative tools for songwriters around the world.
