You can’t edit the built in mute groups, but you can control the length of a roll.

• Select the snare roll articulation, open Envelope and Offset property box, and set the release to react to Note Off.
  • This will add a fade out when a MIDI note ends
• In the grid editor, right click the snare roll articulation and select Show Note Length
  • when the note ends, the snare roll will fade out

Well, the main reason is that it’s a pretty complex situation – more than one can image by just “adding an articulation” to a mute group. They interact with each other in many ways, in different scenarios.

However, this is on our feature request list since we know that some users wants to be able to control this, and we’ll look into the matter when we have the time. Thanks for the feedback!

However I guess it’s pretty unlikely that you’d want to take the open hi-hat articulation from one instrument and pair it with the closed hi-hat articulation from another. Well, there are many different scenarios where the user may want it this way or another way. In theory one could import an open hi-hat and stack to a snare, and the hi-hat should mute snare rolls – for example 🙂
